It is insured with MTN, will they cover the loss if the phone is lost in overseas?

You might want to check your policy but I dont see why it shouldnt be covered. Has she reported the theft with the police?

Have to be there where it was stolen. AFAIK all insurance companies are going to want a police report.

Lie.

Tell them it was stolen at JHB International, out of her bag or something.

Its not like the phone is going to turn up now is it?

Insurance companies rip you a new one every month, get what you pay for and dont let a 'technicality' stop them from paying you.

You still need a police statement and case number to claim. So go to the nearest police station and tell them what happen and get a case number then claim from the insurance.Take your gf's phone serial number with you. Also get the phone blocked via MTN.

Did you mean I need a statement from Thailand Plice station or the plice station close to where I live in SA?

Why does MTN still need to block the phone? It is still usable in Thailand, unless the thief comes to South Africa,:D
