My gmail account was hacked, send a bunch of crappy emails to a bunch of people in my address book

If someone had hacked your gmail account the first thing they would have done is change your password followed by abusing your contact list.

Check your spam folder sometime, all those emails from "me" are spoofs, I get about 3 emails from "my" email address on a daily basis.

Yeah my gmail account was hacked a little while ago, they sent out spam to all my contacts, changed my password and cleared my contact list.
If your account was hacked (by someone in China) you were lucky that they didn't change your password because it can be a real pain in the ass to recover from google.

Like AstroTurf said, it hasn't been hacked like we all understand the word... it has been hacked in the sense that they send mails "from me" to my contacts...
But yes, changed my password, and all seems good now.

Just had the same thing happen to me. All I did was open the spam mail which I received from a friend, nothing else. That was this morning. Then this evening the same mail goes out from my account. Sucks! Recent activity says there was access from China... Does that mean my password was compromised just by reading a mail? Have changed it in the mean time....
