Price?

That shade on the panels must be a production killer?

no reason - to be honest, simply went with the installers recommended solution.

Impressive!
What are you doing to prevent/contain any fire hazards?

Also, any insurance hurdles that you experienced?

fire containment - nothing yet, I should probably investigate that next week. it is in a workshop space about 15 meters from the main house.

I will check in with my insurance as well - thanks for the heads up.

All good would love to hear your feedback as I'm interested in doing a similar although much smaller scale setup at my house. One of those risky cons have always been the fire hazard aspect of it all.

My insurance is with outsurance and the house value is 2x purchase price, they said as long as the value of the system is included in that nothing more needed to be done or added.

To be clear its property/building insurance NOT content

in my case, my main concern is insurance cover in the event of an electrical fire - would hate a claim to be declined because my insurer used this solar/inverter setup as an excuse. in my experience a simple letter getting the green light is a whole lot easier than arguing later after a major loss.

As long as the system was installed by a professional with a ctc, then you are fine.

BTW, amazing system, if I had the money victron anyday.

What advantages does a Victron have over Sunsynk?

I can't speak to technical differences, not smart enough for that, it was more of a brand and recommendation thing. For me - the price difference between the various brands didn't feel like I was getting ripped off by going with the blue option. This is especially true if you look at the price difference as a percentage of the total project cost. I'm sure the other brands are all good as well - I guess some people buy Lexus, some buy Toyota. for the record, I own 3 Toyotas...

What was the total cost? Did You finance or paid cash? If You financed, is it against the bond or there is a higher interest attached to this?
I paid cash for it, I didn't explore any of the financing options, although I have seen some interesting finance options. Im more of a save for something until I can afford to pay upfront for it kind of guy - been contemplating getting solar for years and years..

The cost is mostly inline with the going prices for these things online, simple google search brought up many places selling this kit at similar prices, sure I could have got components cheaper by buying from different vendors but I was happy to pay an expert to spec, install configure. I can highly recommend greenleaf - absolute pleasure dealing with them.
