HI!

I have one hell of a problem, my internet drops every 10 - 15 minutes then reconnects after a few seconds. I have a 5GHz radio on the roof that connects straight into my PC with a 512k internet connection. I play online games so this can be a real pain. I've spoken to my ISP who has been troubleshooting with me, they've even put me on a 1MB line and also a 8MB package with a 1:1 contention ratio but still get the same. I have no other things using the internet at that time, I get booted out of the gaming server and check the net at that moment and notice that I have no internet for about 20 seconds. So I know it's not a gaming server issue. I have done all Windows updates and NIC drivers are upgraded as well. I think I've tried everything. I don't know what to do anymore, my ISP has been very helpful but we cant seem to get to the bottom of this.

Please help!!

Please let me know if I need to provide more info. :)

I"m not sure what the correct term is. I have a Microtik radio/antenna on my roof that points to a tower close by. This radio connects via CAT5 to my PC. Hope this helps!

Kawuleza Connect. I seem to be the only one with that problem and they have been very good with this. Their service is excellent. They are looking into it but I just want to cover all my bases as far as settings go etc. They can't seem to find anything obvious on their side and their logs show no sign of me losing connection. Perhaps it's firmware on my radio? The hardware wasn't bought through them. I'm based in Strand.

Well what is your signal strength looking like? number of DB? how constant is it? between what and what? How often does your ping timeout between your cpe and your isp's?

Maybe a tree or something has grown in the way, or just got more leaves since we heading out of winter, and you need to adjust your ACK timeout or something. The possibilities are numerous boet.

I'm assuming here it is the wireless link between your CPE & your ISP that's timing out or dropping of course.

[EDIT] You should really ask the wuggers this, - they know how to tune those microtik devices in particular pretty darn well. I had a very similair problem and I had to increase my distance setting by 1km (although my house hadn't moved an inch), but it was a tp-link which adjusted everything automatically and i can't remember what the settings were - not that it would help you any as you probably at a different range.

Well, my signal is around 80. it seems to time out after about 10 minutes or so for about 30 seconds then I have internet again. I've had this setup for a month and have no trees in the way. I'm not the best person to mess around on the microtic to be honest, I have told the support engineer that I will take my PC to a friends house who has a similar setup but is with another WISP. If i still get the same then at least I know where to start looking...my PC...if not, it's my radio or ISP. the thing is I was with another Wisp for around 2 weeks and dropped them because of poor service, that's another story. So the setup of that radio was done by them and the new guys just configured it so that I can connect. Maybe a reset is in order and they must come and set it up again...I don't know....

Where can I get hold of one of the wuggers? lol

Setup a ping to the internet and one to an internal device on the WiSP network. (Do a traceroute)
Or alternatively run Nagios service on a linux box, or Smokeping to determine how often the link goes
down.
Heard from someone else tha says his SkyPE calls drop every 10min. Also on a 5.8Ghz network

Where can I get hold of one of the wuggers? lol

Where do you stay ? (Town/City)

I have two connections with Kawuleza at two different sites and have had lots of problems with them over the last year. Constant disconnects which corrupt downloads, high latency problems especially for international connectivity (and even site to site connectivity) and poor feedback on support issues. I am desperately looking for anothe ISP that can provide a better connection using the same equipment. I had to pay for the equipment and am now stuck with it.
