it also doesnt resolve to a host name.... anyone know whats going on?

By offering both static and dynamic addresses, they get to charge more for the static, thereby making more profits....
The 24 hour resets are to do with monitoring bandwidth usage as far as I am aware, wouldn't want you going over your 3 gig.

That is a sh*tload of IP's. Holy crap. Telkom can really think about giving us static IPs having ranges like that!?

Can't they do their bit-accounting any way other than this 24-hour port reset?

I think refusing to give people static IPs also protects their overpriced Diginet line market.

The 24 hour reset is no longer needed because of new mechanisms (interim accounting updates and "packet of death") that have come into affect a few months ago.

IOW we can poll Telkom's radius servers periodically and send a disconnect packet once the cap is reached.

I think the biggest reason that they still have the 24 hour reset is so that they can give you a new ip address to prevent you from running a hosting or other servers on your adsl. So I would also say to protect their very very expensive Diginet lines. If Web Africa can monitor usage in real time why can't Telkom?

iBurst also changed alot of their JHB people to this range a while ago..

But there weren't any problems afaik..
