I've bought a few stuff on Ebay (electronics) and I often ship them to me using myUS. This is only the stuff that I win in a bid and the seller doesn't ship to SA. Depending on the price and weight of the parcel myUS will classify it as a small item parcel and if you have opted for shipping using the cheapest option, they will often ship your parcel using DHL Global Mail service. In this situation, DHL will ship your parcel into the country and hand it over to SA Post Office to do customs clearance and deliver the parcel to you. Once the parcel is handed to SA Post Office, you can prepare to wait a month or two for the item to be cleared at customs and delivered to you, in this two months anything can happen and your parcel may never make it to you.

I have also shipped stuff using myUS and FedEx economy service, the service cost slightly more then small parcel option but you get your parcel in at most two weeks from the time myUS ships the parcel. I have no Idea how customs work but, it takes them significantly much longer to process stuff for SA Post Office then it takes to process stuff for DHL or FedEx.

Makes me want to believe that customs works for DHL/FedEX/TNT and only occasionally process stuff submitted by SA Post Office.
