Haven't watched anthying Shaper related, currently feel like I want to keep the mystery alive. That'll likely change in about a week or two.
But 13k... that sucks, I'm hoping to hit about 9-10k ES only. And the only phys mitigation I'll have in boss fights is fortify. But surely that attack is avoidable?

It looks like the attack is avoidable unless using something like multistrike/spell echo which will lock you in place, he was just accidentally hit, if I remember correctly. Don't want to spoil the fight, but I would suggest watching the video.

My guess that it is phys damage might be wrong but my conclusion is:

He is CI, so immune to chaos damage
Likely resist capped, so what ever damage dealt as elemental must be astonishingly huge, or it was a crit roll.
Only phys remains which is difficult to mitigate as an ES based character.

I am tempted to go ES melee on one of my characters, but still trying to figure out which will be the best class. At this stage it might be duelist due to 50% less reflect damage, or it will be shadow trickster to get a free cyclone and maybe crit to work around the damage issue. I might be able to suck out at least 12K ES with my gear in standard to test out this theory.

Morning

Entering into Act3 Merciless started to receive maps. Think I have 7 or 8 maps.

This morning I'm in act4 Merciless.
Did my first Voll kill. Even with the crap gear I have currently.
Unlocked the gate.
So now need to get to my last skill point.

Need to look what gear currently cost. Lightning is highest with 52% then it goes lower to 5%. I have to do some work here. Chaos resist sit at -60%
Think before I start doing maps get my resist up to respectable levels. Will do this tonight.

Also got my first 4 Chaos from vendor recipe. Standing at 30C currently.
Now I have to work to get resist up to 75% or so.

Then I need to find out how to get Zana in your hide out.

Cant belief I'm already at level 71. Five day's to do this.

Then need to sort my flask's.

Zana is difficult sometimes, because you first have to meet her in the wild and finish her quest. One time played a lot of maps without ever seeing her. Part of RNG probably.

I am about level 30 only, also doing a juggernaut EQ. Tired of getting to high level and then not being able to progress due to low life, so I am playing an easier character :p

Still in A3 normal, just got EQ gem last night, but so far playing has been quite easy.

Seems we have quite a few people closing in on maps. I'm at the back end of A3, just looking for a good shield so that I can spec into CI and have ±3.5k ES. It's a bit sketchy but doable, especially in dried lake/low tier maps. If I figure out a nice way to auto apply curses though, I can bump that to 4.1k ES via discipline. Thinking of doing cwdt / BV / CoH / curse, but need a life leech gem to drop warlords mark first (and then figure out where I'm getting mana from :p)

More importantly for now, I should get my defensive links up. Only have a cwdt / lmp / arctic breath / tempest shield and need to add cwdt / ic and shield charge / fortify. But last night when I was ready to do so all the marauders in the guild had logged off already.

Ok so thanks to howto last night got my setup sorted for leveling, melting everything I come into contact with now.

Act 1 cruel now, will try and get to merciless tonight.

This build is sick!

Correct me if I'm wrong... but running BV (without poison) with vulnerability will be almost the same damage as running hatred right? Obviously worse vs hexproof, but those maps are easily avoided (or I can simply slot hatred back in if I really want to run the map). Trying to free up some mana for discipline

For normal mobs I would say vulnerability would be similar to Hatred. However curses have reduced effectiveness against bosses so I think Hatred would be better there. Plus it takes up your curse slot and I prefer using Warlords Mark for life/mana leech and endurance charges on a BV build. Can do Curse on Hit + Warlords Mark + Increased AOE (or Increased Duration) + lvl1 BV. You just have to cast it after it expires every few seconds. Blasphemy is ok for lazy play but it uses up a lot of your mana.

I'm only about level 42 at the moment. Taking it very slow indeed, as I don't have much time to play at all. I hope I can get to the Atlas this weekend sometime though!

Most bosses have some sort of increased elemental resist as well don't they? Or only some?
I'll also be running at least 2 curses, maybe 3, so it's blasphemy or bust. Vuln + temp chains for poison double dipping goodness

The choice really comes down to whether you want to slow/freeze/shatter or not. I would say that with Temp chains as one of your curses, you get the slow portion of the Hatred aura. Also you get it more reliably. So personally, I would go with Vuln+TempChain combo. Especially when using poison as you say.

Any gems you need I can get for you just ask in game. Must gems are cheap orb of alteration instead POE.Trade ask 1 Alch. So just ask. :D We are supposedly a family of players.
This offer stands for everyone.

I also can 4 link items now. If you have the jewellers and links I would do it for you.

If you're going with poison and dual curse, Vuln + Temp Chains is the best.

Same applies to leveling items (2H weapons specifically). I have quite few decent ones which you can use. I have switched over to swords with lacerate and cyclone now.

I did some maths (on bosses). It got really complicated so it is probably wrong :p
Hatred is better on the initial BV hit by 30%, assuming the boss mitigates 45% of the added cold and the extra support gem (instead of poison) gives a 30% more multi
If using poison and dual curse with 30% curse effectiveness then each poison stack deals 40% more damage over its duration but overall about 20% more damage total.

But I'll do some experimenting, see which one feels better. There is obviously the trade off in passive allocation as well so it may well end up being the same damage actually

Also remember the flexibility that dual curse provides. You are running Temp+Vuln. So that is Green+Blue. On dangerous maps or bosses, you could always switch out Vuln for Enfeeble. Temp Chains plus Enfeeble is an amazing defensive combo.
So Dual curse is definitely superior to single curse and hatred. Provided you are in the templar/witch area for other reasons too, it is well worth the spend.

Edit: The equivalent swap out for hatred would be Grace, which is far inferior to enfeeble in the way it stacks with your existing defenses.

Morning

Did you notice levelling of you character is faster then last league.
I'm currently something level 75, it takes me 3 Dried Lake runs to level up.
I also noticed when doing maps same happens.
I read from level 95 there is a XP penalty.

I also noticed this time around getting gear or Amulets etc. Noticed looking at items seeing Life above 90%.

Maps certainly do seem like they contain more mobs overall, which would lead to higher XP gains.

Got into maps last night, and spent 5C to get 5L 450 ES chest, 350 ES shield (with damage mods), 125 ES boots (bit low but want the MS and res) and 200 ES helm... not too shabby methinks, so I'm now at 4.5k ES without CI or discipline

Slowly approaching Merciless and Maps now. My BV character (First time I have tried the BV Pathfinder) is pretty cool to play. I haven't switched from blasphemy/Hatred to Curse on Hit, Essence Worm, MoM keystone yet. And haven't done Normal and Cruel labs. Going to try to finish Cruel tonight and then once I have enough resists in Merciless, I will start making the switch.
I can definitely see where the power of this build is though.

Got really lucky. I did a speed run from A1 normal to Piety. Then turned back to A1 Dweller and Fairgraves to go get those passive points. Dweller was kind enough to drop a Tabula for me. Nice old Crab.
