MyBroadband tests Vodacom 5G - Unexpected results

if they had this on similar terms to RAIN, i.e. no contract then i might consider it as I am right next to Menlyn Maine - but I'm not signing a contract for those prices

So this must be the reason why Rain didn't open 5G to public in February because network quality was compromise they needed more tower's to go live first

Was thinking the same, on LTE I get 26-34 ms Amanzimtoti to Joburg server.
I think they still need to do a hell of a lot of optimisation. And that 1ms they always talk of with 5G... that is mobile edge computing, 1ms you will only get if you put the speedtest server at the base station itself

5G will remain very similar to 4G while they use existing towers. For 5G to provide the actual hype there needs to be exponentially more base stations closer to customers.

Our municipalities and people living in neighborhoods makes that very difficult. Can take years to get approval for a tower.

For 5G to be worth it for consumers, every carrier will have to do what T-Mobile US is doing.
