South African app shows what petrol stations to use for best rewards and cheapest diesel

A recently-launched online app in South Africa shows motorists which fuel stations they should use for the cheapest refills and best cash-back rewards from their banking and other fuel rewards programmes.

The tool — called MyTank — was developed by Capetonian Rob Gardner and is available on a browser at mytank.co.za or as an Android app.

And yet when I search for myTank Fuel SA on the play store I get.

I already know which petrol station is the best to fill up at. It is always the closest 1, so this app will need to take travel cost into consideration. Where does this ever stop? Why is it all so complicated that we need to have complicated apps that help us calculate where to buy petrol? Can I just please fill up at a petrol station normally? Why do I need stupid rewards and apps for this? I guess the outsiders of the rewards programs are paying inflated prices. Can these reward programs not just please fokkof and die?

There is near as damnit a R2.50 per litre price differential between the stations within 4kms of my house.

A similar app in Russia shows you in real time whether your tank is vaporized or intact.

Its not the best time to launch it, there wont be good uptake until the pricing deregulation of ULP is finalised.

Ya, I was its not a app worth having. Only +-15% of the filling stations are represented on the app and only 20% of those have live feed pricing, no listings of independent sites (which give the best prices) whats the whole purpose?

That is the 2.50 price differential... Truck stop is at least 1.50 cheaper than any retail station
