hi, I tried to do a firmware update that I found on this website but it says file does not exist on google docs

You will need an sd card, usb mouse and usb keyboard for this guide. You could use a flash drive also.

First you need to gain root access to the tv box by doing the following:
Download link : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By9...ew?usp=sharing

1)Download this zip file and put it on a SDcard. DO NOT unzip it.
Note: It may work on the internal SDcard but I did not test it as you cant write to it from the PC as this ROM does not support Mass Storage. Could use flash drive also.

2) Put the SDcard into the tv box SD slot.

3) Go into your settings , system settings then update.

4) In the update tool click the "select" button. It should list the file s89_root_update.zip. Click it.

5) Now press the update button.

6) The system should reboot into recovery and automatically install the zip.

However sometimes it reboots to the recovery menu! Not sure why.

If it does, then using the mouse, select "Apply updated from EXT"

Now select SDcard. You should see the s89_root_update.zip file. Select it.

Recovery will then install the update.
It will then reboot, after that switch off the tv box and then remove the power cord and then plug it back in and switch it on. You are done with this part now.

2. Next you need to download some apps from the playstore.
You will need to download supersu .
Open up supersu and it will ask you to update the binary files, select normal recovery as the option and let it run.
It will reboot the tv box also.
Then you need to download root browser also.

3. Open up root browser application and do the following:

Go to the system folder and look for the build.prop file.

Open that file and find media.amplayer.widevineenable=false and change it to media.amplayer.widevineenable=true.

After that save the file and switch off the tv box and pull out the power cord.

Plug it back in and switch it on and showmax will work
