Hi guys,

i'm sooo dissapointed to hear that the n92 will/might not come out here... :(

i've gone to the nokia website and see the n77 has been released in europe. i really want a tv enabled phone! and no, not the p910.

i have read also that the DVB-H licence has been given and it may be rolled out in june or july.

can any1 canfirm whether the n92 or n77 wud work when the system is up and running and if the n92 or n77 will actually come out here?

i'm up for an upgrade now, but am willing to hang in 2 or 3 more months with my 7610 :D

DVB-H (digital video band - handheld) is the same specification as DVB-T (digital video band - terrestrial) that you use on a normal TV.

The only difference is that the quality of DVB-H picture etal is lower than DVB-T, in order to conserve the phone's battery life.

DVB-H doesn't run on an IP protocol, they don't charge you per meg but per month, like MNET.

Once DVB-H is fully established and the free to air stations jump on the band wagon, we'll be watching TV on our DVB-H phones anytime, anyday, anywhere. ;)

HHHHHMMMMMM seems like internaut know alot about this....

Got a few questions then:

I got a DVB-T device for testing. It plugs straight into your USB of the PC and then it has got an antenna that lifts up. You install the little APP and off you go.

Now the thing is that I can see it scanning but for the life of me it is not picking anything up....

I know with MTN you get the special sim card bla bla bla but is there anyway to make this little thing work.

It looks something like this....

Please help.... ;)

Maybe I'll use something like that yes. Pay R100 per month and watch as much TV as you like.

More than R100, no way.

Hmmmm, sorry Im no fundi in DVB, It's just what I've read up so far.
However you are talking about DVB-T which is the new TV system we will only have here in SA in 2011. Testing starts in 2008.
The project is Sentech's baby. There's some more info here ---> DVB SA
That's why you proabaly can't pick up a DVB-T signal.
