When going to "Update music library" on my N80 nothing happens. I can still play songs one by one when browsing to the songs, but I need to get the library functional again.

I did upgrade the phone software to the latest available and still no luck.

OK, solved it.

First I tried the Nokia Careline. First of all, the call centre is definitively not being run from SA. Secondly, the lady assisting me had no clue as to the workings of the N80 media player. Her suggestion was to remove the battery and SIM for 10 minutes. If the issue persists, take the phone to a support centre.

Then I tried the Nokia shop in Vodaworld. Big mistake. I asked to speak to a technician. See, I wanted to determine whether I was experiencing a known error with a known fix or not. They flat refused to let me speak to a technician. They wanted me to bring the phone in for a checkup which will take 7-10 working days. On moaning about that, they suggested I contact Vodacare. How's that for customer service!!

I called Vodacare at Vodaworld. They picked up the phone on the first or second ring to begin with. Again I requested to speak to a technician, this time specifying one that is knowledgeable on Nokia phones. A few seconds later I explained my problem to a friendly guy (didn't get his name unfortunately). He suggested that it may be a software problem which could probably be fixed within 24 hours. He was guessing that the Library database file (or something similar) got corrupted. I proceeded to format my memory card. Now all is back to normal.

Thanks a tonne to Vodacare actually taking the time to listen and pointing me in a direction so I could fix my phone without having to take it in for a service.
