Sign up with GoogleN95 v20 firmware - issues
Elo all,
The last thread I found about the v20 firmware buried many pages deep in an ancient post under the MTN section , so thought this is okay to post here.
I took the leap and did the upgrade to v20 firmware for the N95. Now for the questions to people who have done this too...
a) anyone notice their phone is slower than it used to be?
example: Had a v12 N95 and my v20 N95 .. click New SMS at the same time and the v20 phone takes a good 2 or 3 seconds longer to draw / load the screen?
b) Bluetooth - something has changed here .. not sure what. Phone and car still pair properly but for incoming calls in the past, the second the phone rang, the carkit would switch over and I'd get the ringing over the speakers - then I answer etc all is well. But on new firmware it does nothing until I have answered, and even then takes a second or two before it switches over to carkit.
c) maybe/probablty unrelated, but I am getting lots of Insert SIM errors
So that is my experience with the v20 firmware thus far. Good news is nokia seems to have sorted out the MapLoader bug (not sure if it was v20 releated, but the service is running better now - i see SA maps have been upgraded - they are now around 2 megs bigger)
I suspect the slugishness is the result of the new memory swapping they have ugpraded (so now not all apps sit in active memory) - but geee .. if v24 doesn't come to my rescue soon, I'll have to downgrade to v12 again
