My current SP (Supercall), with whom I have been dealing for 10 years (on MTN), has responded to my request for details of the availability of the N95 .... (my current contract is up for renewal now).

we are experiencing extreme problems with the Nokia N95 in terms of the GPS as well as the functionality on the handset with the 128K USIM

Anyone else experienced these 'problems' or do they exist only in the minds of our super-efficient SP's?

GPS works fine with my MTN N95 - though I did hear a few things about certain SIMS not working properly (but that was resolved a week or two ago at least - it is mentioned somewhere in the forums - I am sure Piesang can shed some light there too :p)

Was this the "fix" for the USIM problem?

Some Notification from MTN in-light of the USIM Problem ...

"With reference to a communiqué that was sent out on the 30th of May 2007, regarding Nokia N95 with latest SW Version 11.0.026 and USIM (3G SIMs), we have establish a temporary work- around to resolving the incompatibility issue.

We emphasize that this work- around is pertaining to N95 with SW 11.0.026 ONLY, and its temporary until the permanent fix has been found.

The work around solution is activating a PIN on the USIM, Please follow these steps;

1) Take the USIM that is not working in N95, and put in any handset that works.
2) Set the PIN code request to active, by default the PIN code is 00000.
3) After PIN code is enabled, then insert that USIM in N95, it will ask for PIN code, 0000.

The phone then logs on to the network, you can change the PIN code to your own desired PIN for security reasons.

DO NOT DISABLE THE PIN CODE, if you do that the phone can no longer log on to the network, when you re-boot phone."
