Najwa gets 28 years in prison

Najwa Petersen has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for the murder of her husband, Taliep.

Cape High Court Judge Siraj Desai sentenced her co-accused, Abdoer Emjedi and Waheed Hassen to 24 years and 25 years respectively, for all the counts against them.

Emjedi declined to testify in his defence, affecting his chances of mitigating his sentence.

They were all found guilty in December last year of the murder of the theatre legend in December 2006.

The fourth accused, Jefferson Snyders, was found not guilty of murder, but guilty on a charge of robbery with aggravating circumstances. He was sentenced to 10 years, three of which were suspended.

The court, which was packed with family members of the accused and deceased, as well as community members, erupted as Desai read out his sentence.

And she really thought she had the intelligence to get away with it.

I would like to think she will serve every last second, but my guess is she will be out before 10 years have passed.

Well, he was charged with culpable homicide.

Najwa hired people to kill Taliep, let them in, may or may not have even fired the shot that killed him - and this while her son was in the house.
