I know there is a Naked I insurance app here somewhere but did a search and can't find it.

Anyway...I just want to say again how awesome their app is. I applied for my quote on it...got it finalised on the app and they are a lot cheaper...even with a additional option of paying out full value of car outstanding with bank instead of what other insurers would deem the car would have been worth at time of write off.

Anyway...my sister will be driving my car for next week while I am on leave to her office and I will use my partner's car. So had to load her as a driver. On the app you can't load a additional driver that I can find...but it does have option to change main driver. All it wanted was her ID number and alike 3 questions answered and boom.....DONE! Did not even want a copy of drivers licence. Even better is it lowered my premium lol. I think it saw via ID number it is a female and her age therefore lower risk. Sure it will go back to my normal price again when I load myself as main driver.

Naked is awesome....and no...I have not been paid for this post. LolScreenshot_20250102_084742_Naked Insurance.jpg

Strange, I'm with Naked as well, and my policy says additional drivers are covered automatically, no need to do anything.

I did not read the full policy. But rather safe than sorry. Lol

Oh, I see what you did, you changed the main driver. That's really not necessary if your sister is only going to drive your car for a week.

Oh. Oh well. It is done. Will change back when I start driving it again. Ain thing I suppose of this tread is how easy it was.

only issue I have with Naked is the claiming,
its all well and good and prices are very good, but claiming is where the rubber meets the road, if I smack a Lambo with my Getz, will I need to sell a kidney?

There was a peep that said in one of the threads he was only with them for 1 month for house insurance and they paid out...no issue.

I read that as well, but I'm suspicious by nature, and never accept an insurance company that pays out with no drama,
insurance is a Business after all, they have to make sure the amount of money coming in, is less than that going out,

will believe it when I see them paying out a huge amount for a ordinary policy.

I made 1 claim with them so far when my car got dented by a trolley in a parking lot. Was sorted no problem, and was super easy to lodge.

that's just a dent, I'm talking total loss, what that like to claim and get paid out,
Write off for a car or house burnt down I would assume they will send assessor to inspect damage etc. That is normal practice. I would expect nothing less. As you said...they are a business....but for small claims, they seem to make it very easy and to make changes like I did today.

Search this forum, I'm sure I remember reading of a few members who are with Naked who have had to make big claims without any issue.
I read some of the accounts, seems like they pay out, but for every good experience there are 10 bad ones,
naturally suspicious of the entire deal with Naked, yes I am with them myself, and always asking myself this question,

when push comes to shove, are they better than a broker? are they better than outsurance, as insurance is all sales and lawyers,
sales to get in the new policies, and lawyers to guard against too big claims, or defend against paying out legitimate claims

also suspicious was the underwriting exercise they had the other day, where they now underwritten by a different arm of Hollard, or something?

why? whats the difference?

and since there are now a few of these AI powered insurance companies, is pineapple or one of the other ones better?

What I found really strange about Naked is that they don't ask a lot of underwriting questions that a lot of other car insurance companies ask. For example, they only ask you where the car is kept overnight, but are not interested in where it's kept during the day. They also don't even ask if it's parked in a garage, off-street or on-street. No questions about your marital status or employment status. Very curious.

Be very carefull with Naked Insurance.

I have car insurance for an old Bantam Bakkie at Outsurance. The premium is R450 pm.

Naked quoted me R130 with an excess of R1500.

I thought that sounded too good to be true so looked deeper into the Naked offer :

The bakkie is insured at Outsurance for the RETAIL value of R59000.

Naked also quoted for the retail value BUT their retail value is R22000. That's nearly 3 times less!

The Outsurance retail value is in line with other online websites such as AA where you can get your retail value.

So always make sure you compare apples to apples.

Come claim time and you will get a major shock when they pay out the massively reduced retail value.

Always ask about the following :

1. Excess (As low as possible)
2. Retail Value amount (As high as possible)

Looking to move but never to anyone in the Telesure group

Was annoyed how when My parents had a breakin, the assessor called them liars cos they couldn't remember where the power button was on the Nintendo Wii I got them.

It Was stolen!

They felt horrible about the whole thing
