Is the city screwing this up?

I wonder from when 2020 the property and rates account was not being paid.. during the administration period? Was it being paid before then? Who paid it before then and whyu did they stop? Did the account only get created then?

Would not be surprised.

It appears some businesses might even sue.

It would be nice for one of these cases to go to court and get aired out so we can see if the city has its ducks in a row. I hope they know what they’re doing because if they’ve made a few mistakes, the real delinquents are also going to be crying foul.

What would be more annoying if they mess things up is that even the actual non payers are now going to find some credibility.

They can still cut off your electricity if you don't pay the rates and taxes. Gautrain should take it up with their landlord.

I bet the landlord is an ANC cadre pocketing large amounts of rent. Why the Gautrain don't own their own properties is behond me.

That's how tenders work, owning anything is frowned upon.

Gautrain own the station.

So is there some issue about the property being taxed in an inappropriate way? I don’t really understand it, but that's what I gather from the quotes below.

Based on information shared with staff at the station this morning, it appears that the screengrab sent to us last night may relate to rates and taxes. The properties upon which Gautrain stations are built have been acquired by the Gauteng provincial government as a public transport project and in terms of Section 11 of the Gauteng Transport Infrastructure Act of 2001 (the GTIA).

The Gauteng provincial government proclaimed the necessary land rights to build and operate the Gautrain railway line over this property and therefore constitutes public transport infrastructure for the purposes of rates and taxes," she said.

They do own it, so now it's not beyond you. Great news!
Thanks just going off someone else who claimed there is a landlord.

It appears that you are incorrect and the Gauteng provincial government owns the properties.
