So the second TV also arrived broken. The bezel even has a crack in it. It looks like a heavy box was stored on top of the TV and left a deep crease in the box in line with the crack.

Total damage thus far: 2x R13'999 TV's plus courier fees:ROFL:

EDIT: This time I took a video as I unboxed it, so if they hassle me I have proof that it was not damaged by me.
Time to claim your money back. These guys don't know how to deliver a TV. I've seen the ultimate care that Hirsch and Makro take to delivering a TV

I never allow anyone to deliver a TV.

hirschs always open the box in front of me, show me all is perfect, then packEd neatly, and off I go.

The first TV:

The indentations on the first box:

The replacement TV:

And the box:

Contacted TAL for a new unit and they changed it to a refund. So looks like I'll spend the money elsewhere this time around, locally

I clearly didn't learn my lesson, so I ended up ordering a Hisense 65U7QF from Takealot.

If it arrives on Wednesday and it's also DOA, I'm returning it and buying a CRT off of Gumtree and calling it a day.

So, far so good with the 79 Nano. Biggest concern at the moment, (didn't realize how often I did it :)) can't cast Facebook videos to tv :(. Would mean I need to hookup mibox to facilitate this. Then not the TV's fault, but the DSTV on the 65inch especially the sport channels are horrible. not sure what the "HD" channels are but they are not great, anyone else experience this?

I have the NANO 86 (55"), and no issues on the DStv app

Hows the contest ratio / black levels on the set now that you had it for a few weeks?

Its ok, the room its in is relatively sunny, so it does struggle at times. However truth be told I have not tweaked any colour settings over and above the default ones available. Still have the DSTV app issue that I'll post in a different thread.
