This has been the straw that breaks the camel's back as they say.
I have never had the urge to leave the country, even through all the crime, junk status, free falling economy, cost of living, threat of the NHI and non-stop loadshedding, but I do not want to be here anymore.

Told my SO this morning we need to make a plan B just in case. Never had a passport in my life, but will be getting one ASAP.
Only thing keeping us here is family, but if we want to start one ourselves we cannot do it here in it's current state.
Hopefully EWC will not be as bad as we fear, but what are the chances of the ANC not going ham once they had a taste of more free schit?
Of course, where do you go? What will you do?
Rather worry about that if the time comes.

I say, rather safe than sorry. Be prepared to leave, even if you don't want to.
Better to have a passport and money saved with nowhere to go than to have nowhere to go and nothing to go there with.

And so property values falls to R0 in my opinion. Why spend R10 on a 5 bedroom house by the sea when you know they can forcefully take it from you with EWC and lose your R10 investment? Crazy stuff here in SA.

Agreed. Always good to have a passport. But, also keep an eye on the news. Keep news articles on EWC, especially where land and property is taken from minorities. Build up news articles and evidence of AA and BEE. Keep the evidence safe, if possible stored digitally in the cloud. You may need this in the event you are forced to flee this country for a safer country and have no intentions of coming back or being deported back. That coupled with your own experienced may just be your permanent ticket out here and not leaving the ANC any chance to fighting this in a court abroad.

Be sure to maintain your property...... Cut all those trees. Put up swimming pool nets. Don't give them a reason to EWC your property :ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:
You can't catch swimming pools in nets silly. Not unless they're above ground ones, and its very very windy.

On a more serious note, currency devaluation coming again soon soon. Yay!

Wow you getting a big surprise when you realise you’ve wasted all your years and never explored the bigger picture we call earth.

Wow.
Must be nice to have a large revenue stream to just go anywhere anytime you want.
I know it is hard for the MyBB elites to believe, but most of us cannot afford such luxuries.

Really?
Dont you ever go away on holiday or have been the last 5 years?
As most people are not aware, it’s more expensive to travel locally than some holiday internationally?
Most people just don’t want to take a little risk by trying it.
Trust me, once you realise and think bigger than South Africa, you will never turn back.

You are right.
Next time I go away for a few days that cost me about R3 - R4k I will remember that I could've spent R15 000 just on the plane ticket for one person.

What a dummy I am

This year everything changed. International travel costs are out of this world. Last year November we flew to New York with BA and paid around R75k for 5 people. Just last week we looked at prices for December. BA came in at around R300k for the same 5 people. The cheapest airline was R120k which was something like Uganda or Angola air. Last year we thought a direct flight from Cape Town at R140k was crazy. Direct flights this year clocks between R400k and 600k for a family of 5.

You know you can book a 10 day holiday all inclusive for R14k to Phuket, no?
The biggest expense for any international holiday is your flight tickets.
If I wanted to travel to Cape Town from JHB a return ticket would cost me R6k, and I’m not speaking of peak season.
Then you have to budget R1k for shyte accomodation without a sea view, hire a car and pay crazy money to eat **** food.
There are many countries that will offer you plenty more for your money.
