National Planning Commission releases plan to end load-shedding in two years

This part is fsck off funny.

The only part of the nation that isn't unified towards ending load shedding is the ANC and the Unions.
We should actually follow their advice. Many here have done their part to ease the pressure on the grid by taking generation into their own hands...

I have no issue with their advice in general.. but stating the country should unify etc etc, when the cause of the issue is still in play and still very evidently has sweet fek all intention of actually fixing the problem.

Ok, so they want to bring 10,000MW of generating capacity online in the next two years. How many MW have they brought online in the last 10 years?

Any bets on how much more inflated the budgets and timeline will be extended?

My comment was more sarcasm. We give them exactly what they want, but they mustn't come begging for money and new taxes when they're eventually left with a bunch of Sowetos...

I seems that the government has caught on that we don't put much faith in their five and ten year plans. They address that issue by releasing a proposed two year plan.
I feel comforted in knowing that load shedding will be a thing of the past in two years time, multiplied by whatever the date of the rapture is.

Actually the odds are stacked in your favour...

Yeah I was gonna say he has way more of a chance of having a fun weekend with Charlize all expenses paid by Charlize than SA has of achieving 10000MW in 2 years, or ending LS in 2 years.

Total crap.when we first had loadshedding wayyyy back we were told that electricity pricing would have to be pushed up by 225 percent but we would never have loadshedding again. But 500 billion got swindled off and more and now look at the state we are in.

So i will laugh at these ridiculous promises.

Did I misread, this is not a pure IPP play, but some weird ass protracted hybrid model where a crap load of tenders will be issued and without doubt dished out to all the loyal ANC card holders?

All this audit and oversight red tape is blocking the ANC gravy train from delivering .. lets just get the contracts signed, and then IPP's with government connections can draw down on the emergency fund, until another 10x needs to be immediately added as an emergency measure, which we can get from the same taxpayer that is paying a premium for the solar panels on their roof ... its red tape and oversight thats the problem .. all this bollocks about the law and the constitution, it would be much easier if we could whatever we want under the guise of an "emergency" that we have created by doing nothing for 20 years ...

WHAHAHA. Really? These guys are better than Comedy Central. In 2 years time, SA would've had @ least 1 massive Blackout & no progress. Solar will probably have tripled if not more.
