The Reserve Bank is also blocking all international debit/credit card transactions that are over R50 000.

I don't see why they'd block my 15$ subscription to patreon lol.

I actually had massive issues recently with this. they didnt block 5 transactions over R50k that were "foreign" and the sarb queried it via FNB, all on CC

The SARB expects you to pay any international payment that's over R50 000 by SWIFT payment now. I suspect it's because when you pay by CC they don't know what the BOP code is.

I get that but the transactions were all in ZAR and appeared "local" all 5 were in excess of R50000 and queried almost 3 months later...

if you hit 1m sda all foreign cc purchases are blocked, I had a spotify sub bounce last year because of this

Just an update here, I think it was a temporary problem with mastercard, as everything is working again today. I've managed to successfully add my card and pay on all the services I mentioned in my first post.
