Just a heads up , i swiped my card at Thursday evening and yesterday , both of those amounts is still not reserved on my account, both was nedbank card machines .

Just keep it in mind it might all come off at once , so don't forget you did spend that money :p

Both times i used my FNB CC , rest of card machines went of instantly.

I also did not receive any sms or fnb app message for those amounts.

Maybe its just my card or something , can anybody else confirm it?

it also depends on when the merchant puts the sale through.

I pay some suppliers with my debit card and they appear instantly on my statement.
However, if I'm out of town, some smaller vendors don't go through for a while... like a week. I get the sms confirming the amount immediately, the "Available Balance" on my internet banking page is less than the "Account Balance"; but the transaction doesn't appear on my statement for a few days.

the common thread is that they use the SWIPE feature and not the "smartcard with pin" feature. "Old skool technology" that takes a few days to go through.

The delay isn't the technology. It's because the authorisation and settlement isn't being done simultaneously. The smaller merchants perform settlements in batches, usually offline, however the auth must always happen upfront, to ensure that the cardholder has sufficient funds for the transaction.

If you have a smart card (with them chips on it), the card has the ability to work offline. So, if you use your card in the offline mode the bank won't know about it (until later).
Hence your available and current balance doesn't change and you won't get a SMS or app notification.

At certain merchants and under certain amounts, my FNB card works offline.

Offline Mode (See the mode section)

Online Mode

Now, the above might not be the reason for your scenario.

It's pretty normal. I used fnb cc at dentist on Tuesday for 550. Still not reflecting and no SMS confirmation yet. Money is also not in reserve. Happens all the time.
