Hi Guys..

Anyone with experience in this model 834 - I am looking for a modem that i can set the Client Side Sync rate.......

Have tried:

ADSL router pots - weak signal - unstable
Dlink 300T - signal very weak - stable
Marconi 4 port wifi - very good signal - unstable
Marconi 4 port conexant - good signal - stable
Billion 5102G - weaker signal - unstable

Afaik only Telkom can adjust your synch rate, If you are able to adjust your rate it will probably only pertain to your upstream synch and not your downstream. If your are experiencing bad SNR then your probably just a bit 2 far from the exchange, you will have to get telkom to adjust your rate...

Hmmm thanx for the replies

This stinks - i was on 1024 without issues - was upped to the "up-to-4meg" - synch was between 3072 and 4096 whole time with tons of errors - after investigations ect - downgraded procedure started - uh oops - no more 1024 sir - only 4096 or 512 - ...now at 512 :(

1024 was ok.

sigh

Do you know what your SNR and attenuation values are?

Yeah ok so u can c that 4092 is just not going to work with SNR so low, rest are obviously fine...Routers can also make a difference to those values... I would take it up with Telkom because if they are charging your for a 1mb line and your only synching at 512 then u need to get ur money back. The service is an upto4092 service so they should at least be able to set your synch rate as high as possible before your SNR values become to low for a stable connection. you would prob be able to get upto maybe 3mb before you start having problems...
