Need a good, trustworty Honda mechanic in Randburg

Honda Accord 2006 issue, just a pipe next to V belt has come loose, seems to be spilling what i think is oil on the top, the engine seems to be burning it off, there is very little smoke when the car is stationery. Need a good Honda specialist or mechanic in Randburg area to have it checked out. Any suggestions or recommendation

I can confirm, I am the Honda Accord.

Not sure of anyone in Randburg apart from Honda dealerships, but would you mind uploading a picture or two of the issue?

you sure its not the pressurised air con pipe?
there was a recall on that- had mine fixed for free by honda.

Anyone that possibly know why a Honda FRV aircon will lose its cooling function intermittently? I can't detect a pattern, the fan continues to blow but no cooling. A few minutes (or hour, or never again on the same trip) later it would start blowing cold air again.

They pretty bulletproof (more so that pretty much any other manufacturer), can't expect them to have no issues though.

For the Brio - Make sure the anti-rust coating was correctly applied. I know there was a large batch of SA Brios that didn't have it applied at the factory, so it was up to dealerships to apply (and some forgot to do this).

Think it was 2012 and 2013 models.

Actually managed to get the issue diagnosed on this forum

Thanks to TehStranger, it is the power steering fluid pipe. Fix is very expensive at a 'stealership' (in excess of R 5000

Will have to look at a cheaper option, been given ball park figure or R 1000

Ah, that's the thread I was looking for when replying to OP's PM, thanks for finding it.

@ OP - Vees is where I had my pipe done, they know their stuff.

@ chickenbeef - Don't forget the cost of replacing the power steering fluid with the Honda OEM fluid, it costs about as much as the pipe (you'll need at least a bottle and a half).

In my family (household) we own a FRV, Jazz and Brio, ranging from 8 to 3 years old. You will not find many more reliable brands, if any. But that's just us.

The power steering pipe is a known issue on these cars. When you replace it make sure the system is properly bled else you could end up with a squealing pump. Honda in the states did a recall on the pipe & I think some local people also got it replaced for free.

Also check the pump & connectors for leaks, leaks could drip onto the alternator which would damage/kill it.

No other major issues with these cars.

Any recalls that people aware or, anything to watch out for?

Also in the case of the Brio, any issues where the rear tailgate shattered? In a accident or otherwise,
