So my phone went in the wash this week but I'm luckily due for an upgrade. I don't know much about the cellphone market. I'm looking for something that is most importantly sturdy, simple, and small(ish). Some things that would be good: memory card, MP3, email, camera, etc.

What do you recommend?

If a Nokia the 6234 (Vodacom only) or 6233 is a good choice as its neat tidy phone and also has 3G.

The 6300 is nice but only supports EDGE.

If you don't have to have Nokia get a real phone Sony Ericsson K810 or K810 or K810 or K810.... :):)

oh ya and the 6300 doesn't have a very good camera quality, so maybe go for the k810i or w880i, but the k850i is comming out soon with 5mp!

I don't like the k810i or the w880i because of those crappy keys, that's why I picked the w660i. Anything wrong with it?

You won't make a mistake going for a Nokia Nseries. I had a N80 and my brother had a N70. Both are nice phones but if you want to choose between the N80, N70 and N73 then I'll say go for the N73.

The N70 is way out dated.
The N80 is also out dated but not that much.
The N73 is a nice looking phone, with a decent camera and large display.

The biggest complaint with the N73 is the tiny keyboard!
