I don't have a telephone line, but would like to get fixed line interwebs (ADSL/VDSL/whatever) at home. I know I have to pay the mandatory R166.50 Telkom Tax.

But how do I go about applying, and getting results? I logged a request on their website (2 weeks ago, and received no e-mail confirmation), and I've called their 10210 number, but hung up after 12 minutes (I only have so much mobile air time...)

What else can I try to at the very least get a response from them?

You can try holding on for more than 12 minutes :)

Otherwise go to a Telkom store.

Uhm... I just had a look at some of the other threads here, and if other callers get through to the call centre, it's after multiple attempts, and 40 ~ 80 minutes of holding on. So thanks but, well, I don't think solution fits my situation.

Otherwise go to a Telkom store.

Okay, I will give this a try. Thank you.

I went to the Telkom shop in Stellenbosch (the one just outside the mall), and, after a long wait, a lovely lady helped me there. Apparently they're short-staffed today, and this lady had to work through lunch. Even so, it was a pleasant experience.

I've ordered this (max exchange speed is 4mpbs).

Let's see how long they take to actually get it installed.
