infact all the above is jibberish
its a 2.4 pentium4 with 240mb of ram,40gig hdd and up to 64 mb of video memory.

All i am saying is if i add more ram will it be worth it,cause the ram is like +- R500...or should i just let the client upgrade to a better pc

What do you want to do with it. The first thing that I would do is toss the 256Mb SoDIMM and replace it with 2 x 512MB SODIMMs. immediate speed improvement...

The best thing is to replace the elastic band with a thicker one, this will allow you to wind it up more.

Bro, what on earth are you asking us? I am guessing by your post you find the laptop is running too slowly? If that is the case, format it and install a stripped down version of Windows XP. Or you could always install Windows For Legacy PC's.

"thats if its software causing it"

Upgrading to the maximum 1024MB RAM will help significantly for general usage. If you're looking for anything more than general office use, you'll probably do better chucking it and getting a new one.

Your biggest problem with that machine is the lack of RAM. 256Mb these days is pathetic.
Even 512Mb is not enough for decent performance.

i know...i mean xp uses 180 from that..that gives me 30megs to play with.we cant make miracles happen without upgrading ram.:D
