In all seriousness though, addiction needs the root cause addressed. Sometimes it's not about willpower or trying to negotiate with yourself or convincing yourself otherwise. If you learn to spot the trigger (this isn't easy) and cope with it in a healthy way (this isn't easy either) you'll be better off for it

Coffee has been sugar free for like 5 years now. surprisingly easy to do. I only drink 1-2 spoons if i am doing rooibos

I even do sugar free soda
What sweets are you eating? Children’s sweets, like sour worms and smarties?

Once you haven't eaten any in a few weeks and have some you realise just how sweet they are and one or two are generally plenty. As long as you feed your body properly so you don't get low blood sugar cravings.
At the moment I am able to polish of a 1kg bag of liquorice all sorts.... in one sitting if i am left alone.
Sugar doesnt slow me down

We have a local Pakistani shop by us that sells reject sweets. Mainly gummy sweets, jelly beans, all sorts etc.

Im not too fond of toffee and as previously mentioned, I am off chocolate. about 4 years now

I replaced sugar with stevia.

Nothing wrong with dark chocolate as long as it is sugar free.

Agree, I was on 3 sugars, then went to 2 for 1 week and then to 1 the following week
And I am still on 1 sugar and love it coz I only drink 1 cup of coffee a day
After that I hit the beers
And yes I know there is plenty of sugar in beer :(

Cold beers turn you cold turkey.

I suppose i worded it incorrectly? I have an addiction to sweets, candy, kid bait
I would not say so, your addiction is indeed sugar.

Best is probably to stop all things sweet, but it was difficult for me so I just use stevia.

Hey guys
I need some help with my addiction to sugar, Especially sweets. I swear its worse than crack! but just below heroin.

Any tips? I know its a coping mechanism of sorts, But how does one go about replacing sugar for something else?

Hi my friend, sugar is a terrible addiction because it's legal and it's in EVERYTHING. I can sooooooo relate.

Go into ketosis. After a few weeks your tastes will change and you won't crave sweets at all. You'll also become stronger, sleep less, have more energy, and maintain stronger erections.

I would stay in ketosis permanently if it wasn’t for beer.

You just said it and then you ignore it. If you have some underlying thing that's causing you to use food as a band-aid, replacing the sugary stuff with some other stuff is still just you using food as a band-aid. Maybe find an outlet like exercise or something.

Simplest thing to do is to stop buying sugar and sweets. If it's not in your home, then you'll learn to adapt without it.

Replacing one addicting coping mechanism for another is the wrong way to go about it. Why not try to address the root cause of your problem(s) that lead you to requiring a coping mechanism.
This is a large part of the answer, I stopped buying chocolate and chips because I'll generally have it under control till I don't and then I'll finish the whole packet/slab in one go.

I realised it's easier if it's not there in the first place and in any case it's just useless food anyway so it's a bonus not eating it nor spending money on it.

Dont buy it. Eat more fibre.

In a nutshell sweets spike your blood sugar quickly when the level begins to drop you will get hungry again and crave more sweets.

So eliminate access to it and eat low GI high fibre foods to sustain yourself.

If the habit is a problem consider chewing sugar free gum or perhaps eat biltong anything that you can chew on that's not full of sugar.

After a month or two you wont have a sugar problem.

Sweets rot your teeth and gums in no time - do you have dental issues?
