My friend Jill's mother is over 90 years old and she wants to sell her car privately as webuycars offered her 10 K less than it is worth.
I found the same friend a good deal on this forum over 2 years ago but when it comes to selling it to a stranger met online what safety advice would you have., or even your thoughts on how much she can get for it.
It is a Chevy Spark
2013 Model
Lite 1.0ls
Ok thank you for the advice. My brother fell into the trap of accepting a bank guaranteed cheque, so that is not an option, but the rest of the advice is great.
My biggest worry is the payment and test drive.
We won't do the following :
Drive with the buyer to the bank.
Accept a cheque.
Accept cash, it can be taken back at gunpoint.
I'm left with the following questions :
How do we do the payment?
What if the person /persons wants to test drive the car? I don't think it is safe to let someone drive the car around the block.
Can I trust looking at the buyers profile on this forum and make sure it's been on here for years and a lot of posts?
I've already had 5 people responding and don't know the way forward.
Even if I let the person meet us outside of a police station they can still pull out a gun at some point with one of us in the car.
I'm getting paranoid here but we have to come up with the safest way to do the payment.
I'm at the level of letting them into the old age home, block the entrance with my car and hide somewhere
