I posted in the software section looking for info on now to create an app for iOS, android and windows.

I've been playing around on a few websites and liked what AppMachine does. Spent a couple of hours using their online platform and created a pretty decent corporate app. Just basic company information with twitter and Facebook feeds, staff details, videos and a link to our donations page.

I'm doing this for the NGO I'm involved with and the pricing put me off. Is there no cheaper or free way to get an app published or any developers want to assist an NGO. Funds are always tight in the NGO environment, especially for something that is simply a nice to have and not needed to do the good work that we do. The primary motivation for the app was initially for staff and other stakeholders but could also provide the broader community with information about the organisation.

I was very impressed with what I can do with AppMachine in the space of a few hours. The other issue with these websites are that if you do not pay the monthly sub, the app gets pulled.

Hybrid apps, such as produced by AppMachine, have their use but you should have a look at Xamarin, Microsoft recently purchased the company and the software is free to use with Visual Studio.

Windows as in Windows phone?

It is such a small market that I don't see the point of wasting time in developing for it. If you exclude it, you can use what we are using which is a lovely thing called DukeScript.

https://dukescript.com/

The technology basically allows you to write your user interface in HTML5 with a Java backend. It is cross platform on:
Windows Desktop.
OSX.
Linux.
Android.
iOS.
Web

It is also free.

+1 what konfab said, it's really overkill to write an hybrid or native app, a mobile site with a DB backend will be sufficient.
