Hi Guys,
I have a 2007 Corsa Utility Bakkie(side-pockets)
I have had an issue of the engine running very lean for sometime now...
sent it to various workshops(will run well few months & then symptoms start again)
Symptoms;
Jerking when running...bends the Spark Plugs,
Uneven idling esp. after driving in freeway(this does not happen when engine is cool i.e. in the morning),
Loss of power(with loud tapets trrr... sound on steep drives)
High fuel & Oil consumption

I have had 3mechanics from GM look at it...taken it to workshop..did engine overhaul,
still same issues resurface after few months...have spent loads of money in the process.:crying:
Now am convinced this is no fishing business-only specialised Opel mechanic with knowledge of Opel/has come
across this issue sometime before will be able to fix this.

Pls assist guys!
Thanks,
SND

Ever thought of just buying a second hand engine and replace the old one. Might just be something to consider tbh. But sorry I can't help you with an Opel specialist. But bending spark plugs doesn't sound very good at all.

What do you mean by bending the Spark plugs?

The L shaped part(electrodes) of the spark plugs will sometime look little over bent/schew at times...
I have had to either replace with new plugs or just tilt it to position with screw driver..
but it does look like it burns fine..
tested compression, this seems well...enough power..
Diagnostics done, returns OK...
unless urgent help..
I am considering purchasing another 2nd hand engine as pitbull suggested(which would mean a lot of all the costs I spent on the overhaul) & even worse the extended warranty from insurance that I pay for to service such issues on the engine.

Any knowledge of specialist Opel mechanic/workshop will still be 1st option as this will be covered by my warranty..

Hi
Phone Werner Engelbrecht, he runs a workshop in Midrand from his plot.
He is the best mechanic there is, excellent and finding solutions to problems.
He has the same bakkie

Replacing the engine may not solve the issue if it's a ECU/Sensor issue, rather find the fault then decide from there.

Bent plug tips?
That can only be from mechanical damage, maybe pieces of a piston ring, was it the same on all the plugs?

only number2 plug gets bent...
thats my feeling exactly that there is no engine that cannot be fixed/beyond repair esp. one that I've only recently just clocked 200 000...thats not high mileage...believe me I've seen high mileage.
I am concerned that I get a 2nd hand engine only for the issue to still persist..
my gut feeling here is that there is generally serious shortage of Electrical/Techincian knowledge on most vehicles hence the solutions are always mechanical but most of the issues recently are not(and the car manufacturing is moving towards technology) this is creating serious issues...i.e. Corsa does not have Air Mass Flow like other vehicles, so how do mechanics who are not specialist on the vehicle get to know whats wrong? hence I was looking for specialist Opel mechanic.
Thanks though...

Yes I've tried various ways to fix it but its did not fix my issue if you have a solution or strategy please help me out
How exactly is it not working, intermittent or just plain dead? It could be as simple as a blown fuse.

Is it linked to an alarm, if yes is the alarm working?
