Hi Guys

Helping a friend set up a computer center for kids in Durbs.
He wants to purchase 20 desktops pc's (with screen, keyboard etc) or all-in-ones and needs operating systems on them too.

Wanted to know if anyone knew any dealers with good specials on at the moment, also with good after sales support.
Also been checking prices and the all-in-ones seem quite pricey (or am i looking at the wrong websites) any thoughts?

He's looking at possibly i3 or maybe the AMD equivalent for the processor.
Kids will be using it for school work mostly and surfing the net, nothing intensive.

Any help is appreciated.

i3s sound a bit overkill and you should look whether a multiseat configuration won't serve your purposes

Maybe look into using a Linux distro as your operating system, you can install libreoffice or something similar and chrome on it and that should be enough for internet browsing and word processing etc. The interface for Ubuntu is quite good and I don't think it will be too hard for the kids to use it at all. This will save you quite a lot of money.

Go to Mustek Mecer and explain your situation.

n-computers are generally a bit cheaper and easier to manage on central server, if not Rectron does bundled PC's

Install at one of the schools we did

What do you guys think of getting laptops. I think from a safety factor too it might be good too so that can lock them all away.

Also they come with operation systems at under 4k for the celeron ones.
I think only the MS office will be a bit pricey but am sure we can get a good price on a 20 license office package.

Are you sure that is the right price...? Including OS and screen? OS & screen together will cost approx R 2000 excl.

Surely there is some kind of Educational or Bulk licensing for Windows for this sort of use.

Price is right, just check whether the cable cover for all the ports is included, otherwise it looks a little tatty. Some of the refurb vendors do not include the cover.

Edit: Are we talking about the USFF755 - the box sits in a cradle behind the LCD?

Thanks for the heads up, I will definitely make sure they include the cable covers.
