Hi,

As above, need to give management an idea of what software we might want/get in the next year.
So after I got Red Gate :D kinda been out of the loop.

Mostly SharePoint dev  , BI (SSIS,SSRS,QlikView) and a small portion of web-apps lately :( .
As you can see, sit in the MS space quite a bit so anything that touches or improves on the above would be helpful.

Doesn't have to be MS stack though. Anything you want to get :p or lust over would be great.

What language are you developing your apps in?

If it's purely MS based dev then look @ an MSDN developers license.

As Necropolis mention, MSDN will be your best bet.

You should also have a look at Azure, especially from a development standpoint, it is a lot easier to spin up machines with the latest releases on there, as well as cheaper regarding licensing.

If it is already a Microsoft shop, it is cheaper in the long run to stick with that stack (if you have any agreements in place regarding licensing) as you generally get the BI tools free if it is running on an already licensed server.

You should also get the newest SQL Server 2016 RC2, check out the improved SSRS and DataZen services.

Taking it one step further though, would be Power BI, this can now be integrated into Web Apps, and client applications via Azure (Power BI Embedded), or if you are hosting onprem, then you can have a look at PyramidAnalytics.
