As the title suggests. I recently moved to CT and haven’t been to a doctor here. I would like a capable doctor to consult me on my lower back and maybe refer to a neurosurgeon (or whatever they’re called), without spending all my medical savings just for referrals. Any suggestions?

Thanks

So many chronic pain conditions can be treated with good physiotherapy. Why don't you look into a biokineticist at Virgin Active? Unless you have a serious Condition obviously.

physio is more about exercise

a bio well can help

but i think a chiropractor would help more

This is mainly to get a diagnosis and to verify the seriousness. According to symptoms I have a slipped disc, but I can't be sure since this is self diagnosis. The only reason I'm asking is because last time I wasted about 400 bucks just for the GP to write a 3 sentence letter to some physio, when I could have just made an appointment myself

Try an Osteopath, at one stage the physio & chiro could not help my condition, but after 4 or 5 sessions with the osteopath I started to come right.

Are you aware of the major breakthrough announced last week that up to 40% of chronic back pain can be quickly and easily cured with the right antibiotics? Orthopedic and neurosurgeons specialising in lower back and spinal problems say this Danish research is Nobel-worthy.

Here's a link to the Grauniad report: http://m.guardian.co.uk/society/2013/may/07/antibiotics-cure-back-pain-patients

One of the UK's most eminent spinal surgeons said the discovery was the greatest he had witnessed in his professional life, and that its impact on medicine was worthy of a Nobel prize.

Excuse mobile link - I'm on my phone.

PS. I had major back/spinal surgery 25 years ago.[[/[

I don't want to scare you but this female I know had back pains recently. After a week or two she went to the doc. He couldn't diagnose so he sent her to a specialist. Turns out she had pancreas cancer and it has spread so bad that they opened her up and immediately sewed her back up. She went from there to intensive care with maybe a 2 months or so to live.

Just to warn others as well.
