There is no time limit for noise disturbance. The whole you can make noise till 10pm is an urban myth. Most bylaws clearly state that you can't make a load noise or be a nuisance to your neighbours doesn't matter the time of the day.

Realisticly I would either approach the person directly, then the Body Corporate. Then I would phone the metro police if any of the other actions haven't worked.

What to do with such neighbors?

Its every night every weekend. Sure I'm all for enjoying your music or sex, but really I don't want to hear it 2 rooms away

I suppose the only "grace" is it mostly stops around 10pm after starting at 6pm, although weekends you get an early boot around 8am for few hours

I have those kinds of neighbours in my complex as well. Thankfully it's not every weekend. They turn the music and naturally they now have to speak up to hear each other :| Complex rules are no noise from 12am I think, so technically I can contact the guard house and get them to go sort it out if they're still going at that point. Not sure what happens from that point though.

Although currently my next door neighbour is drunk and screaming at her boyfriend/fiance/husband (I dunno what kind of couple they are)

Side topic with that 1 - At what stage would you normally go check that your neighbours are ok in that kind of situation (if you did), or do most people normally keep to themselves and let people deal with their own stuff?

More irritating to me is drunk chicks cackling or screaming at each other at weird hours of the morning.

Drunk girls produce more noise than the loudest subwoofer ever constructed. And it carries through all forms of soundproofing.

My complex is the same, if you pump your music up to a level that will bother the neighbours, you call security and they do the knocking for you. If you continue, they pull your power.

I used to have a neighbour who would host parties every second Sunday into the early hours of Monday. Luckily she was evicted by the body corporate for breaking the rules despite multiple warnings. She was a bloody animal. If we complained she would walk up and down the corridors screaming that all whites are racist and we must leave Africa. Bloody hilarious.

The guys on the flat on top of mine have a good go at each other. Sound like the dude body slams the poor lady. You here a doaf and clunk then a eeeeerrrrrrr. Then she screams higher then its game over. Mine you I do not know who they are but it is really sad, because it is very obvious she is getting a beat down. The way he screams at her and tells her what to do, one of these days I need to call the police. I fear it will get too serious if it already is not.

Then across the road is a block of flats with students who seem to apple to rent with low marks and the lowest gets in. Man they are loud, they fight, girls get picked up by old rich men, the things I have seen here are amazing. But atleast I get to sleep mostly without nts nts nts nts bbbbbrrrrrrooooo boooo booor booooo doaf doaf doaf doaf.... Ting ting...

One of the main problem is that the living room's walls are linked and this makes is so much more annoying. Stupid simplex planning is stupid simplex planning.

ugh...thankfully the designers here glued the units together gap-house-garage-garage-house-gap.

Thankfully sound doesn't carry at my place anyway...so I can blast music all the time. (I do walk around the house to make sure it doesn't carry )

I'm so glad my black neighbours are quiet. They've had one noisy party at their house in the last 5 years.
I've never lived next to Indians but don't they also like loud music or is that only in their pimped up cars? Maybe someone from [-]Little India[/-] the Midrand area can comment.
I love my peaceful street.
