Hi,

My installation was done today. So far very happy with it!
One problem I have though is that I see ping times close to or above 200ms to my afrihost cloud server.
I see the same problem when connecting from my mtn phone back to my neotel ip.

Here is pinging the afrihost web server:

PING afrihost.com (41.181.185.18): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 41.181.185.18: icmp_seq=0 ttl=41 time=209.298 ms
64 bytes from 41.181.185.18: icmp_seq=1 ttl=41 time=205.621 ms
64 bytes from 41.181.185.18: icmp_seq=2 ttl=41 time=216.179 ms
64 bytes from 41.181.185.18: icmp_seq=3 ttl=41 time=201.026 ms

Testing to something else it seems normal (the line is a bit busy at the moment so it might not be as low as it could be)

PING hetzner.co.za (197.189.196.146): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 197.189.196.146: icmp_seq=0 ttl=51 time=52.074 ms
64 bytes from 197.189.196.146: icmp_seq=1 ttl=51 time=38.305 ms
64 bytes from 197.189.196.146: icmp_seq=2 ttl=51 time=62.405 ms
64 bytes from 197.189.196.146: icmp_seq=3 ttl=51 time=36.504 ms

PING rsaweb-clone972284.cloudhosting.rsaweb.co.za (41.71.66.6): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 41.71.66.6: icmp_seq=0 ttl=58 time=66.938 ms
64 bytes from 41.71.66.6: icmp_seq=1 ttl=58 time=77.442 ms
64 bytes from 41.71.66.6: icmp_seq=2 ttl=58 time=35.908 ms
64 bytes from 41.71.66.6: icmp_seq=3 ttl=58 time=43.834 ms

I can only think that there is something between neotel and mtn that would be causing this.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Thanks

Edit:

Adding ping times to mtn.co.za

PING mtn.co.za (196.11.240.215): 56 data bytes

64 bytes from 196.11.240.215: icmp_seq=1 ttl=227 time=206.081 ms
64 bytes from 196.11.240.215: icmp_seq=2 ttl=227 time=191.399 ms
64 bytes from 196.11.240.215: icmp_seq=3 ttl=227 time=217.177 ms

My Ping times to MTN are very low around 20ms
What i have noticed now that people are back from holidays is my speeds arent as great as they were in December.
I am connected to the honeydew tower

Run a winmtr, it will show where the problem lies. More than likely a peering issue so they are routing internationally

Well it routes locally, issue is on the mtn side after 196.223.14.31 which is their jinx link. Would log a fault with neotel to report to mtn.
