Can anyone give me some feedback of this product ?

I am considering getting this over iBurst but I am not signing a 24month contract if I cannot guarantee a decent connection from my house. Apparently I am in a great area but need to test for line of sight and they refuse to tell me where the base station is.

I used a wimax in a corporate environment (50 users). its was a 8mbps/3mbps and it was rock solid. Never went down. remember the guys that did the installation told me that they install in a 5km radium from the tower. if you are 5.5km away they do not install ever if you get great signal (I was 4.8km from the tower).

Service is great, Neotel is one of the best connections so far in SA and they have access to most international cables, which means you will stay up if some cable goes down.

I don't use the wimax anymore (I moved premises and there was no wimax at the new location) but now i'm using microwave from neotel. Different technology, but still same ISP.

but instead wimax... why not LTE from Neotel? I heard is also very good and it might be a little cheaper without signing for 24 months.

Hey guys,

Im also having to get Neotel Wimax as Telkom cant install an ADSL line at my place.

Please could someone just give me the average ping (local server) that one would get on a Wimax connection?

Thanks

Hi Webtailor

Thanks for the feedback, I would go for Neotel LTE but I don't want to be restricted by the latency problems, and not to mention data limitations.

I currently have DSTV and in my mind I can have either one or the other, in this case internet wins hands down. Especially since I am just on the boarder of being excluded from Telkom uncapped.

I will see if I can get them out to do some tests from my place and then take it from there.

I have just got wimax 2M link installed today. I asked for LTE but the signal was not good enough (in Pretoria Val De Grace). Speedtest on installation showed 1.6M uplink. Now - 2hours later it is .3M. Hope this is not the trend...

Resorted to this after my adsl from telkom is practically down since beginning march and they can't get it fixed.

Hey Mouter

How has your Neotel wimax 2Mb line been? I am on Telkom WiMax but 512Kb is a bugger HOWEVER if you are trending on 0.3m then my WiMax is a KILLER of a line because i get full throttle ALL the time due to almost NO contention!!
