Message to Neotel

Dear Mr Pandey,

We have heard all the promises and supposed tout Neotel intends to bring to the South African Telecoms Market. Where are the commercial / residential services you stated on record Neotel was 'on track' with to deliver after missing the mid-2007 deadline? We're officially into the 4th and final quarter for 2007 and it is becoming clearer with each press statement that nothing is really going change as Neotel has yet to prove it's achieved any substantial benefit for the South African consumer.

At the rate Neotel is heading, you will soon lose all respect from consumers dying to leave Telkom and take their business to you. Once the tipping point of resentment is reached, Neotel may very well be relegated to the same 'All talk, No action' club as GOAL. It would do you well to remember the moral behind the children's story "The boy who cried wolf".

Look back at any of my posts and you'll see I'm one of the many that are tired of being taken for a ride by Telkom. I'd like to give my business to you, but only if you prove you're better than Telkom. Take too long and I might very well give MTN / Vodacom a try once their fibre networks are installed. The providers don't matter to me. The quality of service and price do. So far, lip service is all I've seen from Neotel and that just don't cut it. Step up your game, Mr Pandey. I think the South African consumer has been forced to wait far too long already. Become the Knight and you will gain the trust of the people and revenue to double your intended R11Bn investment in the next decade.

Sincerely,
LLG.

just thought of something. isnt vsnl an indian telecoms company?

if they are and they making some nice profits at home in india from the blossoming call center market, why would they want to reduce prices here? they know that they can keep prices the same as they have always been and just provide better service and people will flock to them. so what i would do is keep prices high, give better support, corner the sa market at way high prices and at the same time increase the market for my products in india as it is still a better option than SA

its possible

Very very posible !!

There is just no way to put this diplomatically........ I have just tooooo much experience with "corporate India". Do NOT trust!!

NO-Tel should have kept their mouthes shut and said nothing about their progress, they should only say something once they're ready to offer the services they promise!. November will come and go, March will also come and go!.

andey won’t say by how much Neotel will undercut Telkom in international bandwidth costs. Telkom has long been accused of profiteering on Sat-3, charging rates up to eight times the international norm. The fixed-line carrier has also come under fire for extracting monopoly rents on national long-distance fibre-optic lines.

8x ?????? 1000X more

As with everything in SA telecoms, IBIWISI. Not very convinced right now I must say, especially if they're recruiting from Eskom.

Don't worry that position is just "Spokesperson" its the "talk the talk" part part of the business, its the senior management that will need to "Walk the Walk". I somehow have a feeling that their heels are already wearing thin.
My concern is they only have 200 staff, I can point out at least 7 telco's further down the food-chain that have over 250 and probably 12 times the turnover. How these guys get the "work of an SNO done" with this amount of staff is a mystery. (Well, not if much work is being done)
Also think about this, the time value of money, if the SNO was launched 6 years ago and provided a 20% savings, how much money would we have all saved?? Now six years on, how many years will it now take for us to gain back those lost savings, 12?

Their customer service told me in this week, that it will be end of November. Hope they stick to this date, because I would like to give Telkom the finger.

Thats like giving a bad taxi driver without a licence (or brakes) the finger, (I concede there are few taxi drivers that can rally my anger more that Telkom however) You think that means a thing to either of them?? You may even end up with a hole in the head for your trouble.

All their employees are "spokespersons", have nothing else to do.

I still think its going to be a while before we all give Telkom the finger. All we've heard over the past few month is Neotel...Neotel...its beginning to sound a bit like GTS.

I'm not sure how much of the network they actually run themselves, isn't most of it leased from Infraco? Still doesn't seem like much to run a national telco though. I'm not even convinced they will provide such great savings, I can just see another company that plans to "compete on service".

Neotel will launch in March 2008, at least that's what I've heard...

D

Yeah right, Ive heard that before, those goal posts keep shifting and as long as they keep shifting, Telkom will keep shafting:sick:

LOL, and they said that they were not going to compete on price, but were going to concentrate on service. SIGH

Having 4 cellular operators hasn`t really lowered the price of cell calls.

Cell C didn`t exactly change much...
Virgin Mobile didn`t exactly change much...

Well, Virgin uses the Cell C network, so the prices are pretty much the same.

Vodacom are 50% owned by Telkom, do I need to say more? And MTN are trying to buy Telkom. It's a vicious circle.
