I have the 8mbps LTE unit, without any antenna's installed not even the paddles. I get a -74 signal strength or 3 bars on a gauge.

Here's my tests using speedtest to various servers worldwide over the last week or so.

I have the 10mbps LTE option and I am extremely happy. FUP starts at 1tb then I get rate limited to 5mbps. Get full speed all the time. Night and day, peak and off-peak. Can't be more happier and can surely recommend.

I've installed the 6mbps option at my father's office after Telkom said it will take 3 years to upgrade the areas adsl, it sits in the server room without any external antennas, and runs at a constant 5.8 mbps, it's an absolute pleasure after dealing with Telkom in his area

The last couple with the 4meg LTE has been an absolute pleasure. 7 internet users, averaging 450 gigs a month. Games, streaming, torrents, newshost all run full speed all day at any time.

We've asked to be moved to 10meg - can't wait until the first of next month :)

So, Neotel just changed my 10Mbps wireless installation from Hauwei to an Atel router, Much better signal now. Just one question, where do you change the NAT setting on the ATEL router?

Hi Guys

Glad to see you're loving your LTE connections ;)

If anyone else is looking at getting LTE or any other Neotel service, drop me a PM with your GPS coords and email address and I'll send you a coverage image and feasibility test result. I can also help you load the order and get the service asap without having to go to a Neotel outlet.

In extreme instances where you're sure you have coverage but the maps show otherwise I can also come out and do a onsite test with our LTE test kit. Neotel typically won't install where your signal level is below 40% (2 bars), but if we show them signal is sufficient they will install regardless of what the coverage map indicates. It will cost you a beer however :p

Trying to confirm if this service is available in D'Urbanvale, (Durbanville) Northern Suburbs. Anyone able to confirm?

Have in the meantime dropped a request via their site as well, but being weekend can only expect a response Monday onwards.

Durbanville, as in Cape Town. If so, AFAIK, no LTE in CTN (Yet). Expect if and when they do, they most probably will put it on the same towers as the existing CDMA. Even that's not for sure, as it's been nearly two years since rollout in JHB, and still no LTE in my area. Just CDMA.

I'd speculate they stopped LTE roll-out because of the pending Vodacom deal. There might be WiMax in your area, or the bit more expensive microwave services. Send me a pm with your GPS coords and I'll have a look.

Hi ChrisG97,

Sorry for the delay, but had to dig the old ATEL out of the cupboard and plug it in to see the menu items.

The default NAT address is 192.168.0.1. with S/N 255.255.255.0. The DHCP is set pretty standard, from 192.168.0.2 - 0.254.

To change to some other private address, log into router (192.168.0.1 from browser (proxy disabled), username/password, then select LAN option under Network Settings (near the top) and change any/all of the parameters displayed. Remember to click APPLY.

Then give is a cold start, to see if the new configs have taken.

Just remember, the Neotel LTE ATEL solution has two routers, the ATEL is one, and the indoor unit (Netgear/Zycxel/Whatever) work together. The indoor unit should be on 192.168.0.2, which is the default. You have to change the DHCP setting to start at 0.3, in that case. You should/can choose where DHCP runs, but only on one device, not both.

For quick tests you don't need the indoor router, you can plug the Eth cable directly into a Laptop, and it should work strait away, unless you have configured a static IP address on your Laptop, but mostly it's DHCP.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Sidewinder but I am trying to change the NAT filtering on the router. If I go into any game then it says that my NAT is set to moderate or strict. I know that on the netgear routers you get an option to change the nat filtering from secure to open, and I'm looking for the same thing on the ATEL router.

IIRC my outside router has very basic NAT rules. I can port forward and DMZ - but not much else. I will check when I'm home.

What is it exactly you are trying to do?

btw you can get into advanced settings by logging in on the router and on the top right of the screen is a small hyper link "Advanced Setup" :)

Yes, I have looked in the advanced settings but cannot find the nat filtering settings. I can do port forwarding but then there's too many rules I need to setup. I somehow need to change the NAT filtering from secure to open. I have 5 pc's and each one needs about 5 rules and the router only allows for 20, so I need to find a way to open the NAT filtering.

Wouldnt it be easier to DMZ to a dedicated host - like a Raspberry Pi and forward from there?

Does anyone use telephones with their service? I noticed a dialing tone, but I've obviously not been provisioned for calling or SMS'ing
