Neotel takes aim at Telkom in ad campaign

Really could not care. When I was on Neotel originally it was awesome the cost savings with their per second billing, then the reality of their unreliable network hit us and it ended up costing more - you get what you pay for!

In Neotel’s radio advertisements the company highlights the fact that mobile termination rates were recently reduced, and that they passed these savings on to their subscribers.

So Neotel... did you pass on the previous rate cut in March 2010 as well? http://www.techcentral.co.za/telkom-warns-it-may-keep-rate-cuts/15053/ or http://www.businessday.co.za/articles/Content.aspx?id=93890
ummmmm... I think not. Or is that what you are passing on now - 13 months later?

BTW: nice fixed line network!

I wish these stupid Telecomms and cellular companies with just knock it off already with all the "taking aim at the opposition" advertising campaigns and just provide us with some freaking service for a change!:mad::mad:

Dont Telkom review their products once a year, normally around June?

Well, I for one got a kick out of the ads, especially the second one.

+rep to Neotel for kicking Telkom in the face a little! Made me all fuzzy inside :D

And here I thought everything has been getting better and better over the last 5 years.
I must be blind, shame the suffering.

Yes, and prices for most of their products go up.
Think they normally drop rates on international calls to selected destinations like the US, Canada, UK, but that's about it, as far as I can remember.

Neowho?

How long have they been operating and they're not offering services in my area yet. So much for choice!

Neotel is NOT a fixed line operator, at least not to residential consumers, so I fail to see how they compete with Telkom? If you want a landline, there is still only one company to go to and that's Telkom.

Neotel's products can be best described as a poor man's cellphone. Their phones are bigger than the old cellphones from the eighties.

As an ex customer of Neotel, I can't agree more with you.

I often wondered why Neotel's adverts were so ineffective & why they did such a poor job of explaining their value proposition. They definitely needed to sack their creative genius'.

Neotel represents excellent value for pure voice telephony. No quibbles over that.

It's weakness v Telkom is that copper supports ADSL.

It's strength is the lack of copper for people who want a "land-line" number without monthly recurrent charges and pricing below Telkom. It's also pretty convenient that you can move house and simply take the phone with you.

If you definition of a 'land-line' is a wire connection to your dwelling -then yes, there is only one company to go to because Telkom are refusing to allow access to the Local Loop.

Viva Telkom - Telkom forever, yeah. We only want Telkom.

Telkom - a poor man's national abusive monopoly still stuck in the Eighties. Enjoy my friend.

I hate Telkom  but I was hoping that Neotel would have been direct competition to Telkom . But when i was looking to get my ADSL line I approached Neotel and was highly disappointed to find out that they are more of a inbetween and not reall competition to Telkom .

Also got the impression, which was well known around, that they were not interested in "small residential customers" but were gearing more to attack corporates.

Seems that didn't work out to well.

Now I hate both telkom  and Neotel :wtf:

This article was devoid of any useful content. Was it a slow news day?

Hmmph - I think you need to see the big picture. Neotel's entry into SA was presumably encouraged by the Government, however the government failed to provide a level-playing field against the incumbent monopoly.

Only now is the government finally forcing Telkom to share its Local Loop. Once that happens you will (should) start to see some real competition in the market place and get your ADSL line from another operator. (only then will Telkom drop their prices too)

So don't blame Neotel for being unable to provide a wired connection into your home - blame Telkom (and the ruling party)!

Thanks it makes a bit more sense now on the wired connection side but I still think they suck for not being interested in the everyday joe in the street.
