Karpowership lands three generating licences — Outa demands answers

The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) has granted three generating licences for Turkish powership supplier Karpowership, News24 reported.

Karpowership still needs to obtain permission from the Department of Environmental Affairs and could undergo an investigation by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) before it is permitted to moor its ships and link to the grid.

Bwahahahaha.. the new yawn in full swing.

The ANC fighting corruption is like them ****ing for virginity.

Jesus what a sad lot going nowhere slowly.

Let's sing it together. Tenda, tenda maani. Tenda, tenda maani. Tenda, tenda maani!

I thought the Karpowership matter was sunk?

They still have a number of things blocking them, and I think we'd need to see a Zuma style dismissal of ministers to completely clear the way for the deal to get signed (I don't see CR firing Creecy).

I think we all know at this point Karpowership is greasing the palms of the ANC (more specifically Mantashe and his friends) in order to make their 20 year deal happen (the same way Putin and co were likely greasing Zuma's palms), even though every single bit of common sense points to the fact that we should invest that money in other solutions that we will actually get to KEEP.

With deals like this, I do actually appreciate the fact that we have some "first" world approach to legislation and have laws coming out of our ears. It just puts immense roadblocks up in front of corrupt twats like Uncle Gweezy who is trying to line his bed for retirement at the expense of the country and its future.

Let's just hope they don't take the steamroller approach.

They generally can't, which is the benefit of the legislative environment they operate in really.

They can try, and the courts will be dragged in and then the whole process will grind to a halt while the courts take their sweet time to deliberate.
