Thanks, I was just thinking along the lines of how finicky it is with a wall;

for instance I get an email with attachment on my android, click to view it, leave the device on my desk and quickly pop into a collegues office to show him the attached pdf, still downloading, and then the connection dies halfway out the door.

(Stupid example I know but something similar happened today at court with a doc. VC 3g died round the bend into the filing room [probably the thick walls in archives].. Thought I could convince the clerk of the court about something by showing them scans of the documents we set down for trial... Ended up showing her a spinning timer and a blank email, lol.)

Good Day ferryman

Can you PM we about do you stay.
Lets see what can do. i will try.

Hey ferryman, I have this device and it works like a charm. It's really small, weighs about 80g and fits comfortable in a shirt or trouser pocket. I reckon this device along with the Novotel MiFi are probably the best portable 3G wifi routers on the market in their price range. Cell C sells the MyZone for around R1,499.

Hi Pavan
Did u try put another network(Voda or Mtn) sim if is working?

Hi all,

First time poster. Bought the Myzone today and for the life of me cannot connect to the internet. I can connect to the device itself but not to the internet.

I have previously bought a cell C data speed stick (the black one) and was trying to use this sim card with the router. Not sure if:

1) this is not the right sim to use
2) I am not inserting the sim correctly! (stupid I know but I just inserted it the same way as I did in the speed stick).

Apoligies if I am not posting in the right place but any help will be appreciated.

NetComm MyZone router

Hello everyone,

I am a first time poster - I have had several issues over the last 6 months including a faulty NetComm router (replaced by Cell C) as was the SIM card. I live 2.4kms form the Ballito Cell C tower with line of site. I use a Poynting aerial with an adaptor on which the router is placed and in quiet periods experience download speeds of 6Mbps and upload speeds of 2Mbps.

So I am very happy with Cell C's broadband service save for:

1. Interruptions to connectivity especially in busy periods - Cell C's staff have provided remarkable service in their endeavours to improve matters but they are limited by the estate where I live regarding installation of another tower.

2. I am not happy with the NetComm router because it has a limited range.

My quest is to find a robust router to which I can connect my Poynting aerial coaxial cable and into which I can insert the Cell C SIM card - or any other arrangement which will integrate the aerial input and the Cell C SIM - I will be most appreciative of any assistance.

NetComm router

Hi,

Yes - I have a HTC Desire HD - no worries - just find the range a little limiting but then I am still able to use my iPad through three brick walls.

Is it worth it?

Hi guys,

I have a nokia n8 and not having wifi at all (!) is starting to irritate me. I have been looking at options the past few months, and after the years of pain and suffering with MTN and Vodacom, I have turned to Cell C for comfort. There are 5 devices with wifi capability in my house, so the myzone router is looking very good right about now... I only want the wifi to use at home, not interested in data on the go. I just need it for basic web surfing/IM.

Would this be a good choice?

Good day esperanza

The MyZone is a good wifi, and can support up to 5 devices.
But just for home usage i would maybe look at getting a Data bundle stick and a router ...( Netgear , D-link etc..)
as the wifi signal is much stronger as the router boosts the strengths.
Can PM me for more details.

Hi Everyone....first post! I have this MyZone router and have used it for about 3 months. Playing with the 3G settings in the "advanced" view has given me varying degrees of success with download speeds. Can someone tell me the "correct" settings to use?

3G wifi MyZone router

Got it on 6th as my birthday gift!
Excellent connectivity!
3G signal strength shows 'strong'.
super-easy start.
Will check during my next travel.
I find PIN protection 'Disabled'.
Any problem?

MyZone Wifi connected to repeater

Hi, I was just wondering if the Myzone router can be connected to the Netgear ADSL modem that I already have (it has a repeater function on it) thus extending my WiFi range?

can it be set-up to do this?
