Not going to Cannes
It was not all sunshine for Netflix in recent months, however, with an announcement by the prestigious Cannes film festival that the company’s movies cannot compete at the event.

“The festival adopted a new rule that means if a film is in competition at Cannes, it cannot be watched on Netflix in France for the following three years,” said Netflix.

“We would never want to do that to our French members. We will continue to celebrate our films and filmmakers at other festivals around the world.”

It stated that it will sit out Cannes for the sake of its French members
What a stupid rule. Would think folks should boycott the festival but not sure how it would make a impact.

I'm really enjoying my Netflix subscription. There's so much to watch that I find myself losing interest in what other networks have to offer. Just need HBO to do a Netflix and hoard their content for themselves and offer HBO Now in most countries.

Yep, the switch is in progress. The bloated corrupt old businesses are desperately protecting their turf while they lose relevance and are slowly replaced by leaner, more creative guys. A story as old as the hills. I foresee some major chapter 11 filings for big movie studio's in the coming years.

I must admit Netflix almost makes me not even want to watch any other alternative "streaming" services since it is just so simple to use.

The Cannes rule is just stupid, honestly

It degrades the influence of the festival if anything.

Netflix has way more reach than Cannes IMHO buy excluding Netflix they make the value of what they are actually showing less.
