Hi,
Newb (and clutz) here! Tried this at home. Worked, then it didn't, then it did, then it didn't. NetFlix stopped. Hulu stopped months thereafter. Have brought entire home network to it's knees in the process. Rather embaressing. Don't suppose that anyone here from central or western Joburg would consider making a turn to assist in getting back on an even keel? For a bottle of your favourite poison or a couple hundred bucks? Please? Really don't want DSTV to be the alternative...

Hey Shreez,
Thanks but I'm g*tv*l of stuffing around (stuffing more stuff up) and need someone else to pop around before I throttle the television. Answers:
1) Yes it was. At least until I tried to undo everything and started this by resetting the router. Now I have no internet access anymore.
2) Nothing else was effected. Could still d/l games through Sony/Playstation/PS3 network and watch video clips on YouTube via PS3 whilst neither Hulu+ or NetFlix worked.
3) If I'm thinking of the same thing when you're refering to PSN, I'm almost entirely sure that I was signed into this before accessing either Hulu+ or NetFlix. The system would sign in to something by default within seconds of booting the PS3 up. A message would appear briefly in the top right corner of the telly screen saying signed in and then a group of picture place holders on the right of the screen would then become populated with pictures of games and/or apps.
4) Yes I did. When NetFlix stopped working it came up with an error saying that Netflix isn't available in your country whilst simultaneously prompting you for your email address/to log on. When Hulu stopped working it just came up with a sort of netowrk (or related) error from Hulu - I think it suggested trying again later...
5) I'm not sure how UnoTelly was set-up by myself at inception (earlier this year) but both Hulu+ and NetFlix worked quite well for about a month to begin with. After skimming through this thread I saw many posters saying that they needed to update IPs through the Unotelly site regularly. I did this at every hint of a problem. More often than not, this resolved my issue.
I suspect that I could have created more than one Netflix account in error (first installation was botched). This may have been exacerbated by trying to delpoy the trio (Unotelly, Hulu+ and NetFlix) onto my android cell and/or tablet and/or Windows laptop (all access the same router). Whilst doing so I remember reading or thinking that Google (and/or Android) would possibly overide this new 'foreign' identity. This may have led to 'the beginning of the end'.
Hence I deceided to start afresh and did so by cancelling what I could (UnoTelly) and resetting my router. I've now lost www access at home but have since obtained variuos inputs from my ISP to resolve this. Just haven't gotten around to doing so at home yet....
Really think I need someone that knows more about networking and how to set this up on the PS3 to come through. I say this because my girlfriend has moved in now and we now have two PS3's in da house. Double trouble....
Why is my quality so poor on PS3 and desktop? My line gets 5Mb speedtests in the binneland of the US (10Mb line) whilst on Unotelly DNS. Am I missing anything?

I'm just getting generally terrible speeds on Unotelly - using CT and London DNS servers. I did everything correctly. Even 5Mb is more than enough for 720p Netflix.
Very frustrating!
Just check that all is kosher with Afrihost. I'm also on a 10Mb line with them, but on uncapped.
You should not be getting shaped anywhere...
Oh I missed that he is on Afrihost.
Afrihost is crap for streaming.
It was working yesterday... so I'm screwed then?

EDIT: tried a different DNS - no difference. I'm so confused!
