Ok, got Netflix working without the need to do anything extra from the original post except for the new DNS IP's. Just a few pointers as I suspect some things have changed and this is what I experienced:

step 5 & 6 w.r.t. new PSN account:
I struggled a bit with logging in with a new PSN account as I got the infamous "You can not log on with a different email address" error and took some Googling and fiddling to get around that. Maybe add more detail here on exactly how to do this for the noobs like me. E.g. I had to create a new user on my PS3 and then link that to the new PSN account that I created via the PSN website. The console account and PSN account are two different things.

step 6:
Once signed in under the US account, there was no Hulu or Netflix on the TV Services menu. Only Amazon and Red-"something". I had to go the the PS Store, search for Netflix and Hulu to download them.

Step 7:
I didn't need to enter a full address for Netflix, only US as country and a zip code. The address fields are there but not validated, only checked for "not empty" so I entered "na" for the first few fields.

Hope this helps

Cheers
Neville

Phew! That is a detailed account right there.
Thanks Neville! Taking the time to write this down will doubt help a lot of others who use this guide. I really appreciate all your effort to share this.
I think I will need to take some time and analyze the guide from top to bottom.

Much appreciated, and enjoy streaming!

Thanks for the info Shreez, it is really helpfull.
I got NETFLIX working and Hulu kept asking to enter a code to activeta it on my PS3 then it says it cans as I am outside the US.
The next day I got a message while trying to log into NETFLIX with my PS3 as follows (Netflix has encountered an error. Attempting to determine problem. To exit Netflix, press PS button on your controller), the DNS server numbers are as follows and still the same as when it worked the first time (CT Primary - 197.242.94.51 London - 176.58.107.53).
Any help to get it working again will be appreciated.

Howzit Tony.

I'm not sure where you're based, but these are the two local SA servers you can use:

Johannesburg - 197.189.212.164
Cape Town - 197.242.94.51

Depending on which is closer you would use that one as primary, and then the other as a secondary server.

Next, make sure your IP address is updated on UnoTelly. Every so often, your ISP will change your IP address so that you cannot use it as a business service to host websites, etc.

Use one of these links:

http://www.unotelly.com/unodns/auto_auth/hash_update/updateip.php?user_hash=7fee1ed1dc62b512a5de434c23dc2f23

https://quickstart3.unotelly.com/user/network/auto_update

Good luck, and I hope you manage to get up and running again.
Do this first before trying to start the process with Hulu again. Since neither of them are working, I can almost guarantee that this is the issue (I hope!).

Does the Netflix service or Unotelly throttle the bandwidth for the trial periods by any chance?
I get a stable 5mbps speed via speedtest.net so surely I should be able to get HD quality straming?
Netflix never goes higher than 480 SD whether I use WiFi or Ethernet cable, doesn't make a difference.

Another question, does anyone here know who uses these types of services which of them (if any) offer live coverage of Formula 1 racing?

Cheers

Neither netflix or unotelly throttle your bandwidth. if ytou're getting slow speeds look to your ISP. Are you on Axxess/Afrihost by any chance?

The best ISPs I have found for Netflix so far are Web Africa and VOX Fat PIPE.

Chev, I think I've mentioned to you I'm on WA, but having issues.
I actually changed to a capped account for a more predictable experience, but it seems like the Uncapped option performed better!
Giving them some time and then might try out VOX, heard a lot of good comments about Fat Pipe.

Try changing your Unotelly servers to Ireland.

Cheers Shreez, I got it working again, for some reason I had to log into Netflix again, is this usual when updating the IP Address?
I also cant change the DNS servers on the Ps3, I am still on the CT and London as secondary,I am in Centurion. It doesn't give the option to save once entered, any thoughts?
Hulu Plus is also asking me to enter a code on their website (http://www.hulu.com/plus/ps3) that is shown on the TV screen, where do I enter this to open the account?
thanks again for the guide and keep well.

Thanks Chevron. Maybe throttle was technically the wrong word to use. You are right though as Unotelly confirmed with me that they do not throttle bandwidth at all. Netflix however streams SD or HD to you depending on which plan you have. I did not read carefully enough and opted for the basic premium i.e. cheapest plan which is SD only. Didn't read the light gray fine print. Here's a link of how to change it:

Now I can't access the Netflix website from a PC (to upgrade) as it detects that I'm in an invalid region. Unotelly DNS servers only set on my PS3 and not my router. Router needs to point to ADSL modem though. I can't access the ADSL modem's config as I seemed to forget my admin password for it. Then I need to hard reset the lot and start all over. The hassle is making DSTV look not so bad after all ... :-(

In Chrome install Hola Unblocker. Then you can spoof your region and access Netflix. I also only set Unotelly DNS for my media devices and not for general use.

Its on and off as well, sometimes the only server working is the Netflix server 1, the others have a red X next to them and no Netflix.
Thanks again for the guide and keep well.

Set the unotelly dns addresses on your pc then. Easy peasy.

My UPnP keeps turning off on my PS3 and I presume this is part of the issue. I have only got Netflix to work once and that was when I first set it up a few days ago, now nothing. I have a Netgear Router with a 4meg line, will this work and if not whats the best one to use?
I have read that I have to enable UPnP on my router and this is confusing as it worked before as stated above, I cant get into my Router settings to see if its enabled as I dont have the UN and PW.
Any further help will be greatly appreciated.
Keep well all.

Then you need to get the router details. Setting up unotelly on the router should also fix your issue.

Right so if your router has the unotelly dns settings added, and you don't add them to your ps3, you can't switch from wireless to lan connection. this i have now finally solved. Totally bizarre, as one does not have this problem with a PC or Laptop.

Alternatively, i must remove the dns settings from the router, reset the connection on the ps3 to lan, and then reinstall the dns settings on the router, for which it will then hold the lan connection on the ps3. :wtf:

I am quite frustrated, the PS3 shows the internet is working but when I do a test it says UPnP Not Available.
I have gone into my Wireless Netgear settings and UPnP is enabled. Is there any other setting I must enable/disable to get the UPnP to work on my PS3? (dynamic DNS Service is unchecked).
Wasp_21 and Chevron, how do you add Unotelly settings to your router?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
