Netflix increases prices in South Africa

Speak about a double whammy.

I keep having to buy new devicethat supports netflix. My lit box lasted 1 year...

So the real price is 299 pm

I can live with it, I suppose.

Though the content is becoming mundane. Very few gems that actually grab one's attention.
Well my attention anyway.

And where's 30 Rock locally? Not paying for a VPN.
I believe it was released at the end of August already overseas, but still nothing here!

Oh, thank goodness, I thought they were including the TV licence now.. phew

I would pay R50 more to remove local content.
I'd pay R50 more to be able to hide anything that requires subtitles or dubbing.

I will probably downgrade from premium to standard. We don't really need the four concurrent screens.

They're not working currently anyway.

I renewed my Netflix the other day after about a year of not using it...
Not much new there.....(Far better than that Showmax crap though....)

The reasoning

A Netflix spokesperson said the price changes were necessary to reflect improvements to its catalogue of movies and shows, as well as the quality of its service.

Uhmm yeah its actually gone down in quality since I signed up in 2018, the movies aren't great.

Has Corona had an impact on the production of titles? And no, I'm not trolling, its a genuine question. New shows have been few and far between and I'm wondering if Netflix has lost its mojo or if the studios have stopped producing content

Not only in SA, they had price increases globally. Has been in foreign newspapers a lot the past 2-3 months about their increases. It was just a matter of time before we got it too. That being said, R50 is not a lot of money, if you can afford it.

So you prefer the mind-numbing Mericun content? There is a big world out there!
I know - I've seen a lot of it. All I'm asking for is a filter so I don't have to waste my time wading through crap I'm never going to watch (and downvote accordingly).

Some of the UK stuff is pretty good too you know ;)
