Netflix warns it will have to slash its library in South Africa to meet local content quotas

Netflilx is the reason why you need a vpn/dns to watch US content. They could just flip a switch if that's what they wanted.
Can't. That'd still foul of the SA guvvamint and they'd have to still abide the local crap rule.

Besides, I didn't say they must bundle access to US netflix content, but a VPN. A vpn unlocks a lot more than just US 'flix...

BBC iPlayer has a lot of it...
Yeah, but as a more compelling choice I rather switch to HBO Max to get access to Warner content + BBC and only use Netflix when a new season of The Witcher is out etc.

BBC is free so I'm not sure why a choice is necessary.

I'm not following. Why would someone like Netflix want to bundle a VPN so you can watch something other then Netflix? If they had your way all you'd ever watch is Netflix.

Besides. A VPN for streaming is a rookie mistake. Why lock yourself into one country/region at a time when a DNS gives you access to multiple regions simultaneously?
