Netflix piracy crackdown

Streaming giant Netflix takes a relatively laid-back approach to fighting streaming piracy compared to MultiChoice, which actively pursues illegal streaming services.

However, Netflix has cracked down hard on password sharing, with systems in place to detect and block people from regularly viewing content in multiple locations using the same account.

Netflix is doing a lot to fight piracy, with them including every diversity hire in the business and ramming transgender, bi-sexual relationships and disabilities into every single show no one wants to pirate anything they do

Not that any of those things bother me or affect me in any way, its just annoying being shoehorned into every show for the sake of diversity, even if it does nothing for the narrative or the lore of the show

Clearly it does bother you.

But the mistake is thinking they suddenly started doing this, whereas they’ve always been that company and didn’t actually change anything. I’m also not sure we are watching the same Netflix as I just don’t see it.

Disney on the other hand has made it quite clear they are changing from the ways of old and going about it in a terrible way which is so blatant you cannot miss it and that is truly grating to watch.

Yeah Disney shows are definitely the forerunner with inclusivity

There has always been inclusivity with Netflix shows, which is perfectly fine, but it was here and there where I felt it made decent sense. I enjoyed Sense 8 quite a bit. Maybe I'm just noticing it more across all shows and trying to throw Netflix under the bus as that is where I watch a lot of shows

Value for money has become something lost and forgotten. Where do they find these management taking retarded decisions lately.

I feel Netflix has always been more “themed” in this regard and you could generally see which shows are going to go this way from the start. It never felt like it was pervasive across their entire catalog, rather just more that they supported it more within their catalog.

Disney however seems to literally be putting it into everything and in doing so losing the entire essence of their brand and sinking their own ship in the process.

o come on "Netflix" fighting piracy, proceed to read regurgitated Multichoice/Irdeto drivel... please just stop MC!

this is something they are pumping relentlessly, as that's what the shareholders demand,
same with the Oscars, where they wanted more inclusive, and they sure got it, up until slapgate.

How does Netflix fight piracy..... allowing more than one stream per household is a great start.

Yep, if DStv-using families' youngsters (most pirates?) could just get access like they used to...

At the same time; stop charging for using one's own PVR, Multichoice.
And, sensible smaller sports packages pleez.

Would fix your problem, and your bank account.

According to Irdeto broadcast cybersecurity and anti-piracy director Frikkie Jonker, circumventing cybersecurity measures isn’t difficult for pirates.
Don't think I really believe Frikkie.
Nothing short of a detailed explanation will convince me otherwise.
