My old modem conked out on me, and I managed to pick up one of these at a very reasonable price...

It works perfectly... except for one small problem, I cannot seem to be able to set it to work in bridge mode... is there anyone out there who could help me with this?

Thanks

oKAy...

Netgear DG834Gv2. Here's my problem. After about 10pm - 7am i cannot browse, download email, or go onto newsgroups, however, Torrents are flying, i can connect to Emule, Soulseek, Limewire etc...

I have disabled my windows firewall - All firewalls even the router's!. I've restored factory settings on the router, and reverted it. I've upgraded the Bios, downgraded & even played with a couple of versions inbetween... NO joy

I've irritated the poor staff at Openweb - however its still not clear if the problem is with them or not.

I've had different accounts created and tried, i've tried DNS settings. I've even Manually set DNS settings on my Network settings on my PC. (thought it helped then it didnt...)

I've then plugged in a USB Telkom Pots router (spit on it) but hey - She works, i can browse...

... here's the catch. lets say, I open Myadsl, and the forums. I open CNN.com, then close those windows, disconnect the USB Pots, and reconnect the Netgear. Open those pages again and they browse. I can go into topics or articles i didnt load previously on the POTS modem... But then try go to another website - DEAD.

I thought it may have something to do with the DHCP settings... but just don't know.

I've tried alternating the pitch of my F@rts but hey... this won't help except keep the cats away when i'm busy!

Its very weird... just can't explain it. Anybody?
Its also worth a mention, The Netgear performs perfectly 24/7 on a Telkom account, but not on Openweb. Just the USB Pots seems to like Openweb 24/7

Sounds like a DNS issue if your torrents are still working. Try using these DNS servers, set them on your router as well as your PC.

From OpenDNS:

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Doubt it would be DHCP because you obviously have a connection with the router which means you must have been assigned an IP on the right subnet etc.

okay - this seemed to have got it going again. This is now the 3rd set of DNS settings i've got, as the ones provided by Openweb don't work. I still find it very odd that their own dns settings won't run.

The problem seems to be a 24hour problem now, not a 10pm - 7am.

Not convinced the problem has gone away yet - will keep an eye...

Btw - Thanks Syndyre
