I am waiting on Vumatel to install fibre in my area and have presigned with WebAfrica for 20/2 Uncapped.

I have purchased the Netgear X4S Nighthawk router and was wandering if anyone on the forum also bought this router and what their experiences with the router were. Now I know that the X4S is overkill for my current line speed but wanted to future proof it a bit in case my financial situation improves in future and I am able to upgrade to 100Mbps when it becomes more affordable (for my budget).

I had the AC1900 Nighthawk and found the Wifi wasn't that good - many others complained too. On the positive side, it ran Shibby's Tomato firmware which is a big plus - ability to visualise bandwidth use per device.

If I may ask - what did you pay for it?
I'm collecting this tomorrow and gonna hook it up with my Unifi AP AC Lite (+- R1525).. I think I've got a solid combo

marlin178 I paid R4300 .. Its now selling for R6300. I have seen a video on the net where the guy walks away from his house with his tablet, and he couldn't see his house anymore and still received 3 bars reception. Whether it would be that good in my environment we will have to see. But I was looking, amongst other features for a router where I wouldn't have to add wifi range extenders or a second router to be able to get proper signal throughout my house. For the price you pay I most certainly hope that manicminer's experience with the AC1900 (Nighthawk R7000) will not apply to my router. The R7800 has the MU-MIMO and beam forming technology. Again I might not benefit from this with my currently devices, but I was looking to future proof my setup a bit.
